About me and my therapy practice

I am a fully qualified therapeutic counsellor and I work with a wide range of issues stemming from; depression, anxiety, self-esteem, relationship issues, bereavement, trauma and stress. I have experience in several counselling agencies and I work in private practice with adult clients.

Sometimes we can feel really low and start to experience feelings of depression and/or anxiety. This might be following an event such as the loss of a loved one, a separation, the loss of a job or problems within a friendship. Sometimes these feelings might simply start without us really understanding why. Depression and anxiety can impact our ability to function and can leave us feeling deeply alone and unhappy.

Withdrawing from activities and routine can feel like the easier option, further isolating ourselves from others and society as a whole. We might even engage in unhelpful and harmful behaviours as a way of coping. Feelings of panic might also arise and pretending to be happy to those we care about can become exhausting.

As a therapeutic counsellor, I believe that change can happen. I can help you to turn your focus to what it is that you are experiencing. We can start by exploring your feelings and your responses to events. Counselling might feel difficult at first, but I’d encourage you to look inward and to talk openly and honestly about how you feel.

I use an integrative approach to counselling and psychotherapy and this means that I will draw upon more than one theory throughout our work together. This is because I believe that what works for one person in therapy may not be the best approach for someone else. The integrative model of counselling allows therapy to be flexible and adaptable in line with each client’s personal needs and expectations.
