About me and my therapy practice
In a completely confidential, open and non-judgemental environment I aim to help you explore whatever is on your mind at a pace that feels right for you.
Psychodynamic psychotherapy is an in-depth way of looking at your problems. It can be time limited or open-ended.
At each step we work together to explore alternative ways to move forward in your life. To achieve this we also look back, uncovering any repetitive patterns of behaviour and understanding how they are contributing to what you feel is going wrong.
Psychotherapy can help with all kinds of problems.
From difficulties with relationships, a frustrated career, anxiety and depression, or simply feeling misunderstood and confused about who you are and what you want.
Some, but by no means all, of the areas I work with include:
Anxiety, depression and stress
Career problems
Difficulty forming meaningful and lasting relationships
Family issues including relationships with parents, siblings and children
Feeling held back by traumatic childhood experiences
Identity
Life transitions such as going to university, establishing a career, becoming a parent and facing retirement
Living with long term illness
Loss
Low self esteem
Suicidal thoughts
Please get in touch to discuss your needs.
Practice description
The therapy takes place in a calm, tranquil and spacious setting.
My therapy rooms are located in W4 and W6 - both within private medical practices. They have receptionists, waiting rooms, toilet facilities and good transport links (see Contact). The W6 practice is located on the lower ground floor and involves external steps to the building. The W4 practice is located on the first floor involving a short flight of stairs.
Covid safety measures
Safety measures are in place at both practices. Due to ongoing safety concerns during the pandemic sessions can also take place remotely via Zoom, Skype or telephone.
My first session
After receiving your enquiry I will contact you to arrange a brief telephone conversation during which we can arrange to meet.
My therapy practise begins with a no obligation first meeting.
This is either in person or remotely where we explore what brings you to therapy now, your hopes for the future, and get to know each other a little and see how we work together. This is also your opportunity to ask any questions.
We can then decide to have a second exploratory meeting or make the decision to begin therapy and agree a regular day and time to meet each week.
Sessions usually take place once weekly and always last 50 minutes.
The fee per session is £75. I do offer some concession spaces for those on low incomes.
The fee for ongoing therapy is usually discussed and agreed during our first no obligation consultation.
