About me and my therapy practice

I have worked for over 15 years with a diversity of clients and issues.

I use different therapeutic modalities to support you to understand and integrate your body, mind and spirit and make sense of yourself in how you respond to life events, love or pain in order to regain clarity, grounding, sense of self and dignity.

As well as working cognitively, it is important to work somatically as trauma and stress affect the brain and body.

Symptoms are very often the voices of a deeper discontent. When we look underneath the symptoms, we allow for a deeper healing to happen.

Trauma can be a one off event, but it can also be the result of chronic stress. It causes disconnection. Perhaps you may feel this sense of disconnection within yourself or in your relationships with others. The family and environment we grow up in shape our brain and physiology. It results in behaviours and habits that once served us but which now cause malfunction in relationships and in our bodies. We now know that it is possible to change these patterns and behaviours because of the amazing plasticity of the body and brain.

In addition to using cognitive and somatic modalities, I have 20 years of meditation experience. I therefore include mindfulness and reflective based practices in the sessions.

I also specialise in working with ethnic minority women, as well as individuals looking to bring more fulfilment and authenticity into their lives. Having worked in the corporate sector for 15 years, I appreciate the feeling of not living true to one's deeper sense of self.

Perhaps more importantly I can help as someone who also has a story but gives myself permission to live my truth and to walk as who I am with as much authenticity and courage as I can.

Practice description

Trauma is more about what happens INSIDE you in the absence of an empathic other.

I provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space for you to be vulnerable and feel safe to share. As well as working cognitively, with any limiting beliefs, we will also do somatic explorations where we will investigate feelings and sensations in the body using micro movements which help develop resilience and a deeper sense of self and groundedness.
