About me and my therapy practice
I’m Frank, a person-centred counsellor and therapist based in Ilkley, West Yorkshire.
Everyone has a story. Sometimes it can feel like a part of the story that’s uncomfortable, confusing or downright painful has taken over. That’s where counselling can help: to be heard and to hear yourself, clearly, can be an incredible release. I offer the space and time to make sense of the difficult, challenging things in your life and to find your own answers to what's troubling you. Whether it’s a bereavement or a nagging feeling of something just not being right, a period of persistent low mood or finding things harder than they used to be, together we can work to finding what’s bothering you and what can be done about it.
I spent a decade as a writer and an editor, always fascinated by the stories people tell themselves and others. At heart, I’m passionate about what it means to be human, to live in the moment and be better in touch with being alive. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). I aim to help adults of all ages and backgrounds with a range of issues.
Practice description
My fee is £55 per session. Sessions can be in-person at The Grove, via video on Zoom or the telephone.
Each session lasts 50 minutes and takes place at the same time on a weekly basis, to ensure consistency throughout the process. I do offer fortnightly sessions, but I don’t always have availability for this. Do let me know if you’re looking for counselling every fortnight.
Due to my flexible schedule, I am able to see clients both during the day and in the evening and will always do my best to accommodate you at the earliest possibility. I also am able to offer some concessionary rate sessions - please ask.
My first session
In my first session I carry out a brief assessment, so that I can get a better sense of you and you of me. Otherwise, the session is the same as any other: a space for you to explore what's troubling you.
