About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced psychotherapist & counsellor working in private practice to support clients with a range of mental health presentations. These include: Addiction, anxiety, body image & disordered eating, bereavement, co-dependency, depression, personality disorders, relationship difficulties, survivors of sexual assault, survivors of emotional or physical abuse and trauma. My ethos is that our mental health is just as important as our physical health, and we should feel comfortable accessing help and support without stigma or prejudice for doing so.

I'm trained in Person Centred & Experiential Therapy which means that I work with you to help re-frame and process your experiences without judgement. I believe that you are the expert of your own life and that therapy can help you to make sense of relationship difficulties, difficult experiences or patterns of behaviour to help promote better mental health and wellbeing. Your safety and confidentiality are the centre of my work at all times. I am a HAES (Health at every size) aligned practitioner and do my best to accommodate most body types in my practice. To find out more please visit www.gemmasaggers.com.

I am currently in my final year of further training at the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute working towards my level 7 UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) accreditation. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP). I adhere to the UKCP & BACP Codes of Ethics

Practice description

My practice is based on Broad St, Stamford although face to face sessions are currently paused in light of COVID19. I am offering telephone/online therapy as an alternative for both existing and new clients. Virtual therapy is an effective, convenient and lower cost alternative to more traditional face to face therapy that can be accessed at a time and place to suit you.

For those who are nervous about switching to online therapy, or aren’t as comfortable with technology, I offer a free set up service ahead of your appointment to help you get started and comfortable with this change in service.

My first session

Our first session will be slightly different to our usual therapy sessions as it will take the form of a therapeutic assessment. This is so I can establish more about your reasons for coming to therapy as well as your hopes and goals for the work. It's also a great time for you to ask me any questions that you may have about our work together, as well as see if I'm the right fit for you, as feeling safe, comfortable and having a good relationship with your therapist can be the best predictor of therapeutic success.

What I can help with

ADD / ADHD, Addictions, AIDS/HIV, Asperger syndrome, Business coaching, Cancer, Chronic fatigue syndrome / ME, Cultural issues, Eating disorders, Identity issues, Life coaching, Men's issues, Personal development, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Sex-related issues, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Stress, Women's issues, Work related issues
