About me and my therapy practice
Are you feeling really low and depressed and anxious but don't know why? You are stuck and do not know how to overcome this feeling? Thinking about counselling can be quite daunting and not knowing what to expect can be quite frightening. As an Asian Counsellor I can relate to experiences which people have experienced within the Asian Culture. I can speak Punjabi fluently as I am aware that some clients prefer to explain their inner feelings in their mother tongue which has been proven to help clients talk about their inner experiences.
I have worked in a South Asian Agency which has given me various areas of experience of the issues Asian people face in their daily lives. Also worked within agencies which deal with clients experiencing Bereavement and Domestic Violence/Sexual Abuse.
As a Person Centred Therapist I work closely with you and work towards working with your inner feelings as I believe that you are the expert in what is best for you and I can help you experience these feelings and help you make the changes you really want for yourself which will make you feel less anxious and you are able to live a fulfilled life.
In my practice I will listen to you and be empathic and non-judgemental. You can bring anything that is affecting you to the session. I will work towards helping you feel less anxious and by the time you leave the session you are able to cope with your inner feelings. I offer a safe place for you to explore the issues which are making you feel anxious and allowing you the time in a confidential setting to work through these.
My first session
In your first session I will ask you to go through why you have come to counselling and work through the presenting issues with you and allow you the time in a safe environment to explore what is deeply affecting you and work with you throughout the sessions to a place where you are feeling comfortable with yourself. I will do my utmost to get a sense of what it is like for you and will let you know how I am experiencing you.
