About me and my therapy practice

Hello, my name is Grace and I am a counsellor. I help people pleasers to feel ok with focussing on themselves.

Are you always a bit afraid to speak up for yourself? Do you struggle with talking about you and dread conversations about your interests and opinions? Maybe you feel as though your views are less important or you worry about what people will think if you express yourself? You put a smile on your face to mask how you really feel not wanting to become a burden to others.

If this is you, you are not alone. I am here to help you build on your self worth so you can start to believe in the value that you bring to others.

I will create a safe space for you to express yourself and validate the feelings that you have felt afraid of expressing.

I look forward to helping you make yourself a priority and find your Self Centre.

I am very friendly and easy to talk to. I provide sessions in person, online and over the phone. Thank you for taking the time to have a look at my page and please get in touch if you would like to find out more.

Therapy sessions can be delivered in person in a private room in Gateshead/ Wrekenton/ Blaydon Health Centres depending on your preference. Please note Blaydon is available for evening appointments. These appointments need to be booked and paid for in advance as I will need to arrange room hire. In person sessions are £65.

I am also able to offer sessions online or over the phone. To ensure appointments are always private and secure, I use the VSEE app to deliver my online appointments and kindly ask for you to download this app while we are working together. I can send you some very simple instructions about how this works when we confirm our first appointment and will help where possible to make this an easy process where all you have to do is click a button to join the online call. Online or Telephone sessions are £55.

Practice description

My counselling practice is called Self Centre Counselling. Why? Because I believe my counselling service can help you to learn, grow and thrive by putting your needs first.

Somewhere, some how and some time ago we all learned that actually putting your self first, thinking about your needs and being self centred was WRONG, BAD AND SELFISH.

This thought process is a brilliant way of feeling that you MUST:

-Say Yes to things that you don't want to do

-Put other people's needs before yours

-Focus on how other people think you SHOULD be

We are all guilty of putting others first BUT:

I believe that by following this way of thinking we lose who we really are and that's why its important to be self centred, and to focus on what you want to live a life that puts you at the centre.

I have created Self Centre Counselling to help people reach this perspective in whatever way is right for them.

If you want to feel ok with saying no,

If you want to be able to put yourself first, whilst still being respectful of other people,

or

If you want to shift the feeling that you should be something that you aren't

I will work with you at your own pace to get the focus back on you.

My first session

It's normal to feel nervous when trying something different and counselling is no exception! The first session is designed with this in mind and so there are no trick questions and I will do my best to help you feel calm and actually enjoy the appointment.

Part of person centred counselling is about working at the client's pace and so I will not ask you to share anything you are not ready to.  The first session is an opportunity for me to get to know you and you to get to know me a bit more. We can then outline what it is that you hope to achieve from your sessions and what you think it would look like when you no longer need to work with me.

I want to make sure you feel comfortable and safe whether we are working online/telephone or in the same room together. If there is anything you need from me to do this I invite you to let me know so we can work together and build a therapeutic relationship based on respect and shared understanding.

About me and my therapy practice

Hello, My name is Grace and I am a counsellor offering sessions online, via telephone and in person. Thank you for taking the time to have a look at my page and please get in touch if you have any questions.

I am very friendly and easy to talk to and believe I can provide a safe and calm environment for you that is free from judgement. I will give you the opportunity to explore what your true needs are and help you learn to make them priority. I will work at your pace and will be guided by you and what you are looking to get from counselling.

You may be feeling a bit lost or confused at the moment and not quite know what your next step is. That's ok. Counselling is a tool to help you spend time and give attention to those feelings to help you work out what they really mean. I will work with you to help you feel safe and understood.

My counselling practice is called Self Centre Counselling.  Why? Because I believe my counselling service can help you to learn, grow and thrive by putting your needs first.

We are all guilty of putting others first BUT:

This can mean staying in a loveless marriage, working in a job you hate or even hiding what you really want out of life.

I believe that by following this way of thinking we lose who we really are. I really believe that its important to be self centred, and to focus on what you want to live a life that puts you at the centre.

And that is why I have created Self Centre Counselling, to help people reach this perspective in whatever way is right for them. If this sounds like something you want to know more about, get in touch today.
