My practice is full at the moment so I am not taking on any new clients.
About me and my therapy practice
With over 20 years experience of working with individuals, couples and running relationship courses, I offer compassionate, non-judgemental and confidential counselling in a supportive environment, to make lasting changes happen.
Individual Counselling; You may feel depressed, lonely, anxious, have low self-esteem or what-ever is going on, that feels difficult. So whatever you bring, that's what we explore and work with. No issue is too big or too small if it's standing in the way for you leading the life you want to lead. Together we will help you understand what you are feeling and why. I provide a calm and safe place, where you can be heard and valued, in order to explore whatever difficulties you may be experiencing. I firmly believe that if we know and understand ourselves better, we can work out how to make better choices for a better life.
Couples Counselling; If you are experiencing difficulties in your relationship and would like to understand why this has happened, couples counselling gives partners the opportunity to talk and listen to each other openly and effectively with a compassionate, non-judgemental therapist present.
Relationships are challenging, we have two different wants and needs, sharing a life together. When reality sets in after the falling in love period, it's challenging to face up to our differences and work on the relationship rather than give up and move on.
For love to grow, it must change in positive ways. This requires commitment from both partners; relationships are challenging and bring up different and often difficult emotions.
Counselling can offer a place where couples can explore issues or problems that had previously felt too difficult or unsafe to open up.
With couples who have already decided to go their separate ways, couples counselling can support them to make this happen in the best possible way in these difficult circumstances.
I have worked with couples, both opposite sex and same sex, over many years.
My aim is to provide a calm, neutral and safe environment, allowing clients to explore what is standing in their way to live the life they want to live.
I now only see clients face to face in my own home and there is parking.
My first session
The first meeting is an assessment session. I aim to find out more about the client/couple, their worries and why they feel that life is not working for them. To feel heard, seen and not judged is what I hope to provide for all my clients, be they individuals or couples. Towards the end of the session, we review what has been discussed, what I have heard and what their experiences have been like. We would also explore what they would hope to achieve by continuing counselling with me.
There is no obligation to agree to have more sessions there and then. I always suggest to the client/ couple discuss it later and contact me with their decision. Either decision is fine with me.
With couples, I offer and extra free 15 minutes on top of the normal 60 minutes for the assessment session.
