About me and my therapy practice

Sometimes life can feel challenging and the events thrown at us can make us feel overwhelmed or unsure of how to respond. You may find yourself in a time of upset, distress or despair. Perhaps you’re aware of a lingering unease. Or maybe you’re seeking to release more of your potential. You want to feel heard, understood and accepted.

If you would like to talk, I am here to listen. You can email me without obligation or book a short introductory call if you prefer.

Talking through with a professional is an opportunity to know yourself better. When we look into ourselves with curiosity, kindness and openness, we begin to see areas of the self formerly hidden. We can gain a new understanding of how significant relationships and events shaped who we are and why they did so.

I believe that our sense of self is largely shaped by our relationships and the way we interact with the environments in which we live — we are relational beings. Therefore my work has the therapeutic relationship at the core. I will aim to create a warm and compassionate space, where your true self can emerge and manifest without constraints. New patterns of relating to yourself and others can then emerge, which can move you towards a more meaningful and a more authentic way of living.

If you would like to find out how I can support you or if you’re unsure whether counselling is right for you, do get in touch.

Practice description

I hold a BACP approved Diploma in Integrative Counselling and BACP Certificate of Proficiency. As an integrative counsellor I recognise individual uniqueness and that there is no one size fits all. I draw from several schools of therapy, including person centred, Gestalt, psychodynamic and Mindfulness CBT which I aim to adapt to each individual's needs and particular situation.

I adopt equality, diversity and inclusion as the foundation of my practice and aim to see each individual in their own personal context – including culture, religion, gender, age or sexual orientation. I recognise that these areas intersect and form our identity, together with other characteristics, such as relationship and socio-economic status.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP reg. no. 396970), and as a BACP member I am committed to working ethically and to high professional standards. I am passionate about my work, I undertake continuous professional development to advance my knowledge and skills and I attend regular supervision.

My first session

Initially we would have a small exchange via email or phone or both, to check availability and for us to get a feel for whether I am the right counsellor for you and your present concern. This would also give you an opportunity to assess whether I am someone you’d feel comfortable opening up to.

If we decide to go ahead, I would then send you a contract detailing how I work.

About me and my therapy practice

Looking for the right therapist may feel challenging, especially when you have to deal with those difficulties which prompted you to consider therapy in the first place. You might even be wondering whether counselling is right or for you.

  • Possibly you have found yourself in a time of upset, distress or despair.
  • Perhaps you're aware of a lingering unease.
  • Or maybe you're seeking to release more of your potential.
  • You know you want to feel heard, understood and accepted.

Talking through with a professional is an opportunity to explore any or all of these and, as a result, getting to know yourself better. Knowledge and insight have the power to transform. When we look into ourselves with curiosity, kindness and openness, we begin to see areas of the self formerly hidden. We can gain a new understanding of how significant relationships and events shaped who we are and also why they did. New patterns of relating to yourself and others can then emerge, which can move you towards a more meaningful and more authentic living.

If you would like to find out whether I could support you with your particular concern, I offer a free 20 min introductory call.

My role, as a counsellor, is to aspire to being non-judgmentally genuine, in order to enable you to reflect on the many different aspects of who you are. I believe that our sense of self is largely shaped by our relationships and the way we interact with the environments in which we live. Thus my work has the therapeutic relationship at the core. I will endeavour to create a safe and compassionate space where your true self can emerge and manifest without constraints.

I adopt equality, diversity and inclusion as the foundation of my practice, and aim to see each individual in their own unique context – including culture, religion, gender, age or sexual orientation. I recognise that these areas intersect and form our identity, together with other characteristics, such as relationship and socio-economic status.
