About me and my therapy practice
As a holistic, trauma-informed Gestalt therapist, I work with people from very different walks of life, circumstances and ages.
Some of the most common struggles people come to me with are related to the field of relationships, self-acceptance and self-trust. As someone who has historically experienced a lot of suffering in the realm of both love and family connections (including a painful divorce) and had to go on a deep journey to learn what it means to create loving, authentic, intimate and deeply fulfilling bonds, I love supporting people in this area - including building a loving, warm and supportive relationship with all aspects of oneself. I am also a qualified facilitator of the practices of relational mindfulness and authentic relating and have been running groups and retreats on that subject since 2017.
Another area I have expertise working in is supporting people who are going through major challenges and/or life transitions (for example, a significant loss or change) and are dealing with complex, distressing, confusing feelings, mental states and/or a sense of emotional overwhelm. My experience of working at the hospice has taught me a lot about how difficult, disorienting and lonely it can be to approach those life-shattering transitions on one's own and how important it is to have a space where it can be safe just to be as one is, with all that there is, without having to pretend to have it all together or be managing it well.
I also work with people who don't have a particular problem or issue but want to experience more freedom, pleasure, joy, spaciousness, satisfaction, flow and confidence in their lives.
My approach is trauma-informed, authentic, organic, relational, deeply respectful and spontaneously creative. Clients have often commented on a sense of safety, agenda-less ease, deep acceptance, gentleness, authenticity, loving warmth, relational attunement and sensitivity they have experienced from me.
As a therapist, I believe in the power of playfulness and approaching even the deepest processes in the spirit of kindness, openness, courage and warm curiosity. I also believe in the power of going slow and gently, with respect to the nervous system and the needs of the sensitive parts of our psyche, as opposed to pushing through and imposing a particular tempo or expectation on the individual's process.
While all spaces I hold are uniquely tailored to each person's needs, all of them are strongly informed by my trust in the wisdom of the person's intuitive being and the body that already has all the answers and keys to healing.
I am very welcoming of all forms of embodied expression, including movement, voice and creative experimentation in the sessions, as well as alternative formats of work, like having sessions outdoors, or photography-assisted therapy. I am also very open to the transpersonal dimension of the therapeutic work.
From the very beginning of the process, I will invite you to join me in the intention to co-create a gentle healing space, where all parts of your experience can feel fully expressed, seen, understood and welcome, so that new perspectives, directions, resources and ways of being can emerge.
My approach is informed by various modalities, including Gestalt, IFS, Sensorimotor therapy, Focusing, relational mindfulness and systemic constellations.
At the moment, I am offering both online and offline sessions, which I hold at my place in Clapham, London or outdoors, in the green spaces of London.
My first session
The first session will be an opportunity for us to get to know each other and explore if my presence and approach is the right fit for you. There won't be any pressure to come to a conclusion or commit to further work together, and my intention will be to make it into a gentle and supportive experience for you.
I am likely to ask you some questions about what brings you to therapy, your current situation, any issues or concerns that you might need support with and what you might want from working together. I will also introduce some of the ways in which I work (for example, I may invite you to notice what it is like to be you in the present moment) and answer any questions you might have.
Other sessions are likely to be less focused on me talking and asking questions and will be more focused on you and your experience and process.
I am happy to offer a free 30 minutes exploration session or a longer one-hour introduction session at a discounted price of 50£.
