About me and my therapy practice
I’ve been counselling since 1989, working with individuals, couples and families. I have extensive experience of working with trauma and abuse, depression and anxiety, bereavement and loss, relationships and identity, attachment and parenting. I don’t claim to be an expert in any of these areas because everyone’s experience of them is different, and what matters is you and your unique experience of these difficulties. I am committed to collaborating with you to find the resilient, hopeful part of yourself that becomes expert in managing your challenges and is motivated by the smallest signs of progress towards your preferred future.
I am a Brief Solution Focused practitioner. This means that rather than focusing on the past and the experiences which may have contributed to your current difficulties, we will focus instead on how you want things to be in the future, and what resources you have from your past which can help you achieve your best hopes. Sessions are typically fewer than with other forms of therapy, representing good value for money, and you can decide when to end our work together. You will learn some helpful techniques which you can apply to all aspects of your life, without the ongoing need of a therapist.
