About me and my therapy practice
Hi welcome to my profile😊 My name is Melissa, I am a person-centred therapist. I work with individuals aged 16+ face to face in Liverpool and other locations online via teams or telephone. I strongly believe that mental health is just as important as physical health. No matter how difficult things may seem, I am here to support you through the obstacles that you may be facing. Therapy helped me through my own issues with binge eating, stress, anxiety, and depression. Now I enjoy helping others to heal through therapy. I have a first class psychology degree, a post-graduate diploma in counselling and psychotherapy, and I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Before going into private therapy practice I worked in retail, care, at Harmony General Counselling Service, and Liverpool Domestic Abuse Service. My main experience and interest is with depression, SAD, stress, anxiety, relationships, neurodivergence, abuse, and eating disorders. This is due to my past experience and personal life. I regularly engage in clinical supervision and training to ensure my continuing professional development, I am insured and I hold an enhanced DBS. Client quotes:
"Melissa is very understanding and I am comfortable opening up to her. Thanks Melissa ! You have helped me put myself back together. I would be nowhere near as far along as I am without your help. :)"
"I used Melissa's services over several months navigating through some very complicated issues then a bereavement. I can highly recommend her very reliable puts you at ease and non judgemental."
"I can really see the improvement in my mental health from when I started with her to now. She creates a safe space where I feel comfortable to talk through difficult and challenging life events, so that I can better understand and process them, which infinitely improves my mental health! I also really appreciated that she made the time to see me around my busy schedule"
Practice description
Each session lasts between 50 and 60 minutes. They can be face to face, online via teams, or telephone. Person-centred therapy is a talking therapy. It works by providing a safe, accepting, and confidential space where you can explore what is going on in your life without any judgement. It can help by allowing you to talk freely, increasing self-awareness, developing acceptance, and helping you to make positive changes. I understand that everyone’s experience is different so we will progress at a rate that is comfortable for you. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions!
My first session
I offer a free phone consultation before the first session to answer any questions you may have and to see if it would be suitable for us to work together. During the first session I would start getting to know you, invite you to discuss what has brought you to therapy and discuss contract details so we are both clear what to expect from our sessions and how to make the best of them.
