Availability

I have openings for new clients from May 2023 working face-to-face.  I work on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a BACP and BPC registered psychotherapist and counsellor based in Royston. I have experience working with men and women across all age groups over the last ten years in St Albans, Royston and London. My approach is psychodynamic, which means working with you to understand the root cause of the difficulties you bring - this can often lie in past experiences. I will listen carefully to what you say and together we will explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours to help increase your understanding of yourself. In this way new insights can emerge which can lead to new perspectives and an increased ability to bring about change.

As well as working in private practice, in the recent past I have volunteered for a charity which provides low-cost counselling and have also worked in a Mental Health trust providing long term psychotherapy to NHS patients. I have experience of working with people caught up in traumatic events.

As part of my five-year training I also underwent therapy so I know it can be difficult to take the first step in seeking help and be confident that you have found the right therapist. Our first two sessions will allow a detailed exploration of your difficulties in some depth. We can then decide on how to continue.

I offer short-term therapy of up to 12 weeks. This can be useful if you have a specific focus or want an introduction to therapy. I also offer longer-term open-ended therapy, working with deeper-seated issues or as a means for personal development and exploration of the self.

Currently I am offering sessions at the Royston Complementary Health Centre.
