Hello and welcome – I am a counsellor who is happy to work with you on your situation or relationship, as an individual or a couple.

I work with all kinds of relationships and circumstances.

I work with individuals be these adults or young people, aged 11+ or teenagers.

My aim is that our counselling time together will become a safe place and our therapy will provide you with the time and space (and possible challenges) you need to explore your thoughts, feelings and beliefs, fully supported, as YOU decide on your future path.

Being an older counsellor probably helps, as I have a lot of life experience and have gained insights into many areas but I won't assume I know how life is for you.

I work with individuals as they explore, reconnect or re-discover themselves. With couples, who then either reconnect in a more positive framework or disconnect but in a more constructive way than previously.

I enjoy counselling young people. Firstly, to hear them and how they experience their life and then to encourage and enable them to develop a more resilient attitude to life by recognising their strengths and being able to express themselves.

I am an experienced, accredited, integrative, counsellor.

I offer my counselling services to you online, by phone or face to face in WA7 or a mix of these if needed - I try to provide a flexible, client focused, service whenever possible within Monday to Thursday - please, contact me to discuss your requirements, no obligation.

Pricing:

Young people - an assessment session of one hour initially and then either 30 minute or hour session offered - initial session £50, half hour session £30 and an hour £50

Adults - individual or couple £70 per session

Single Session Therapy - £95 for up to 100 minutes

Rewind Therapy - pricing determined by your requirements - please ask me.

About me and my therapy practice

Hello and welcome – I am a counsellor who is happy to work with you on your situation or relationship, as an individual or a couple.

If you have issues with anxiety, bereavement, depression, low self-esteem or trauma, I'd hope to help you.

If you have a difficult decision to make or have had a recent loss – this isn’t always a death, but an unwanted ending of some kind - I'd work with you to untangle all the different strands that are making this so difficult, so you can make a choice, about what's next for you.

No problem is too small.

How will I work with you?  I’ll use my experience, gained as a counsellor in private practice and from ten years as a relationship counsellor with Relate to provide you with the supportive space in which you can explore whatever has brought you to therapy. I am likely to ask you questions, if I need to clarify something or to explore something in more depth and, as I am integrative, I’ll be happy to work with you with on issues from the past, that’s happening now or any fears you have about the future.

What do I do? - initially I will listen and then, together, we can explore your situation and all your options (and maybe the consequences too) but whatever you decide, the choice is always yours.

I really enjoy counselling individuals and relationships and I also like to work with groups, as a counsellor or, as a supervisor or, as a facilitator.

I am LGBTQ and Neurodivergent friendly. I’ve worked with abuse, anxiety, bereavement, bullying, depression, menopause, people pleasing, stuck-ness, work and/or health anxiety, separation & divorce to name but a few areas.

How do I do it? - Integrative, which in my case, means using a mix of several counselling theories, depending on your needs - Systemic, Person Centred, Psychodynamic, Attachment Theory and Transactional Analysis (TA), to name a few. BACP do a great explanation of the different types of counselling therapies: https://www.bacp.co.uk/about-therapy/types-of-therapy/

Practice description

Although I came to counselling later in life, I have accrued considerable counselling experience from over eighteen years in private practice and from my time in secondary schools, Children’s Centres, work settings and, in couples work, gained from over ten years working with the Relate organisation, as a relationship and young person's counsellor.

I am an accredited, integrative counsellor. Integrative, which in my case, means using a mix of several counselling theories, depending on your needs, including person centred, systemic & TA to name a few.

This means I can work with you on issues from the past, present or fears for the future. I believe the more therapeutic tools I have, the more options this gives me when working with you.

Relationship counselling / couples counselling - it’s standard practice to have one session with you together and then one session with each of you on your own and then offer ongoing sessions with you, back as a couple, when it is safe and ethical to do so – lots of reasons not to proceed – this might be due to DA, DV, drugs and / or alcohol issues, an ongoing affair or different agendas.

Counselling can be especially useful if you want to improve your communication, to develop better negotiation skills with each other, or to reconnect or reconcile or even work on separating / ending the relationship, in a more (child) friendly way.

Additional Training: Neurodiversity is an area that has called to me, so I undertook specific training in this area and, whilst I don’t claim to be an expert, but I am neurodiverse friendly and I am just as happy when working with clients whether they are neurotypical or neurodiverse (Autistic Spectrum and/or ADHD, diagnosed or undiagnosed).

I also work with couples / relationships where one or both are either neurotypical or neurodiverse!

I am also LGBTQ+ friendly.

My first session

I offer online and telephone counselling nationwide and some face to face appointments in WA7:

Where do I do it? I try to work flexibly by offering counselling online, Nationwide via Zoom or telephone or in person in Runcorn – 5 miles from J11 or J12 of M56 – or a mix of these options, as needed.

Please note my dedicated counselling room is up a flight of stairs

Once we agree an appointment, I will send you the counselling agreement we will work within.  This outlines confidentiality and GDPR and sending it / reading this before the session, helps keep admin to a minimum on the day.

My dedicated counselling room (if you come to me) is up a flight of stairs into a comfortable room with two easy chairs and a large, comfy sofa.

We will then briefly discuss the counselling agreement we will be working within, confidentiality and any initial queries you have.

Some feel that more than an hour is needed on a particular topic and to these I might offer Single Session Therapy - one session, up to 100 minutes, to work on one issue (not suitable for addictions). To explore an issue in-depth and the possible resolutions, maybe look at all the achievable solutions and then create an action plan moving forward.

As well as my counselling qualifications and experience I have qualifications in and experience working with NLP, Hypnotherapy, EFT, Mindfulness as well as being a Rewind Trauma Therapist.

I offer Rewind therapy - contact me to discuss your requirements.

All this training and experience means I have the flexibility to tailor my service to you, as an individual, couple, young person, EAP or group, to better meet your needs - this is never a one size fits all therapy.

Hopefully, this outline will give you the confidence to proceed.

Payment In Advance / Confirming Your Appointment:

I have a first come first served appointment system, to reduce no shows and I ask all my clients to pay in advance, to confirm each of their appointments, usually at the time of the booking.

Hello, I am a BACP accredited, integrative counsellor and clinical supervisor and I understand choosing a supervisor can be difficult.

Let us meet for a brief chat by phone or by zoom so we can both check out our fit, get to know each other a little and be able to ask each other questions before making any decisions.

I enjoy working collaboratively with experienced counsellors both supervising their work and/or supervising their supervision.

It's also a pleasure, being part of the journey for trainee counsellors.

To my clients, supervisees and all those I work with, including staff from other professions needing external supervision, I aim to offer a supportive / reflective space.

Trainee counsellors can need a range of flexible options of supervision, whether this is needing monthly or twice monthly supervision, whether needing an hour or two lots of fourth-five minutes or any other mix - ask me and we'll discuss this.

**I offer a discount to fortnightly students - please ask me about this **

I am practical, empathic and I have a good sense of humour and a wealth of knowledge & experience to help with whatever arises in the supervision.

Please contact me for more information or to check out our fit - emails are usually answered same day and messages left on my answer machine will returned as soon as possible but, sometimes this will be the next day.

Once we've had a chat, consider this - would you be comfortable asking me a daft question? Could you bring an awful day to me - confident we'd work through it together and find the learning opportunities - if not, I'm not the supervisor for you.

Hope to talk to you soon.

About me and my therapy practice

Hello and welcome, I trained as a Clinical Supervisor in May 2022.  Although coming late to supervision, I have eighteen years experience in private practice working with young people (11+), adults and relationships / couples.

Integrative in private practice since 2006. Whilst working with Relate, I worked systemically with individuals, young people and relationships. I was a counsellor in a secondary school, for Relate, for three years so I am familiar with the pressure that can arise in schools and colleges.

I am practical, empathic and I have a good sense of humour and a wealth of knowledge & experience to help with whatever arises in the supervision.

I use the Seven Eyed Supervision Model - this was developed by Peter Hawkins and Robin Shohet in 1985, who integrated the relational and systematic aspects of supervision in a single theoretical model. The model is relational because it focuses on the relationship between the client, therapist and supervisor and systemic because it focuses on the interplay between each relationship and their context within the wider system.

I am trained in the use of Mindfulness, NLP, Transactional Analysis, Systemic and Attachment Therapy. As well as Person Centred, Solution Focused and Integrative approaches and I have a deep interest in Transactional Analysis.

Fees for one-to-one supervision are £50 per hour or £70 for ninety minutes - however these suits you - online, telephone or face to face in WA7 but I do have a payment in advance policy, to confirm your attendance, each supervision.

Have you ever consider group supervision?

Most counsellors love their jobs, but a big downside is working in isolation. Group supervision is supportive, enlightening even, at times, funny - an opportunity to share with, and bounce ideas off, other counsellors.

I love group supervision - if you need a group for your work or college, if you are a trainee counsellor - contact me and we can start a group.

Practice description

I enjoy working collaboratively with experienced counsellors both supervising their work and/or supervising their supervision.

It's also a pleasure, being part of the journey for trainee counsellors.

To my supervisees and all those I work with, including staff from other professions needing external supervision, I aim to offer a supportive / reflective space.

I am down to earth and I will mostly work collaboratively with you but I do challenge, if necessary.

I really do welcome mis-steps as a great learning opportunity rather than a failure - none of us are perfect and when we learn from our mistakes, we don’t tend to repeat them.

My fees for online, group supervision is reasonably priced to encourage participation, £20 for one hour in the fortnightly group or £30 for two-hour, online, monthly groups sessions, fees due in advance to confirm attendance.

There is small supervision group on the 2nd & 4th Tuesday, at 1pm for an hour - bi monthly (at lunchtime for convenience) - for up to six counsellors in the group but, due to life & other commitments, usually three or four attend - there is currently one spare place, let me know if this time slot would suit you.

There are three, two-hour, monthly, small supervision groups, online:

• 1st Monday of the month* @1.15pm for relationship counsellors

.  2nd Thursday  0f the month @ 12.45 for relationship counsellors

• 1st Wednesday @ 9.15am - for general counsellors

• All my groups are online, supportive and friendly. The mix of modalities is really useful too. There is one spare place, for a relationship counsellor on a Monday - please let me know if you are interested in this or one of the other groups.

I would be happy to explore coming to your school or employment to supervise groups of staff (even mixed roles) on a monthly / bi monthly / bi term basis.

I am down to earth, I have a good sense of humour and I will mostly work collaboratively with you.

Contact me to discussion / check if we are a good fit - no obligation

My first session

Hopefully, we will have met briefly prior to our first supervision to check out our fit.  After agreeing to meet - I'll then send you my contract for individual or group supervision but I ask you not to sign it until you have attend a session - so you are not committed.

I see our first supervision as an extension to the getting to know each other process and so part of our session might be to answer any questions about the contract, the supervision or anything else and partly focusing on a client or two - whatever is needed on the day.

I have a collaborative style but this doesn't mean I won't challenge you if I ever felt this was needed - and you can challenge me if you disagree, honesty always welcome.

Payment terms: please note, I have a first come, first served system so I ask for payment, in advance, at the time of booking, each time - to confirm your attendance.

As a supervisor, I’ve now completed supervisor reports for Supervisee’s accreditation applications and for CPCAB, both 50 & 100 hour reports as well as Mid Placement Reports.

To be honest, these reports take up a great deal of time and again, I like us to take a collaborative approach - you will usually draft a few ideas / examples of when you applied theory to practice, this ensures course criteria is met. I will review my supervision logs and together we will create a first version of the report for us to review / work on collaboratively – there is a fee for this, which includes all discussions / meetings regarding the report, the write up(s) and any email discussions on this topic – this will usually equate to one session fee but could be two session fee, depending on the time needed but I'll discuss with you, before the cost increases from one session.

Any questions please ask - no obligation
