About me and my therapy practice

I offer counselling to adults and young people aged 18+.

I aim to work with you in a warm, trustworthy and down-to-earth way, to support you with what troubles you.

Perhaps you've been finding yourself feeling anxious, down, angry, or stuck, or having problems with the relationships in your life. Maybe you’ve been coping so far but things now feel overwhelming. Or perhaps it’s been this way for a while and you want it to change.

As an integrative therapist, I draw on a number of therapeutic approaches, to find a way of doing therapy that works for you. My hope is that together we can create a space and a relationship that feels solid and comfortable enough for you to explore whatever has brought you to therapy, and perhaps think about who and how you are in the world.

What to expect from a session with me:

Clients sometimes begin therapy feeling that, like medical treatment, therapy is something that will be done to them. In my experience, this is rarely the case.

My core approach is humanistic. I see you as the expert in what it feels like to be you. I’ll tend to follow your lead in terms of what we talk about, supporting you to reflect more deeply on what you experience and what this means for you, in terms of finding ways forward.

Where appropriate, we may explore the role of the body and nervous system in your experience.

I also hold in mind thinking from attachment theory: whilst we may not talk directly about the past, early experiences often inform our ways of relating to ourselves and others. Growing awareness of these can lead to greater understanding and compassion for ourselves and those around us.

In my experience, this kind of therapy tends to grow self-awareness, opening doors to change, and the living of a more fulfilled life, grounded in a better sense of who you are and what you want.

My first session

My first session is an opportunity for us to begin to get to know each other. We'll talk through what's bringing you to therapy and start to think about how therapy might help. It's a chance for you to ask any questions you might have about therapy or myself and get a sense of what it might be like for us to work together.

Towards the end of the session we'll think together about whether we might be a good fit and you can then take some time to consider whether you'd like to begin working together.

Practice description

I work with clients in person from my therapy room in Old Street. My room is part of a suite of therapy rooms and is in easy reach of Islington, Shoreditch, Moorgate, the City, and many other areas of North, East and Central London.

I also work online. As for so many of us, working remotely was new to me at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. I have found it to be a different yet effective way of working with clients. Please do get in touch if you'd like to talk though working together online.

I offer offer both short-term (time limited) or open-ended therapy.
