About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative therapist working in a predominantly person centred focussed talking therapy method. I touch on CBT as well as psychodynamic and Gestalt theory through my work.
My style is very much connecting with you as the client and finding a method, a way, that works for you, in a respectful, relaxed, non judgemental and confidential setting. Person centre means that you are the expert of your own story and experience and I will work with you being the expert of your own narrative.
I work with adults and young adults experiencing anxiety, depression, PTSD, Suicidal thoughts, childhood trauma and many other experiences or personal events that become apparent on our therapeutic journey together. The journey is about connection and I would welcome a chat first so that you may get a feel for working together and if this is what you feel comfortable with.
I have mentioned connection and this is so key for you as my client to feel comfortable and feel that you wish to work together. Connection involves trust which ideally builds throughout our sessions together.
For trust to build, that involves transparency and being transparent will be evident from day one as I will explain the process of my integrative practice, how we might work together and all of the contractual details involved. If you are happy with this process and keen to move forward we will set up a contract together for a minimum of 6 sessions, rising as and when if needed.
My approach is to regularly check in with you and check that you are happy with the process as we move along our therapeutic journey together. You are in control, you are the expert in the room of what you are feeling and experiencing. I will walk the path and understand your thoughts and feelings, bringing these into your awareness, for you to understand perspective and possible strategies to help you move forward.
My first session
For the first session, I would like to ideally collate some information on the reasons you have chosen to come to therapy, what is concerning you and also get a little understanding of where your thinking is at at this present time to assess where you sit presently. This will be an assessment form.
The approach will be relaxed and informal at all times throughout our sessions. My aim is to make you feel relaxed in this confidential setting so that we can really use the time together well.
I offer both long and short term contracts and together we can work out what might be best for you going forward.
