About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative counsellor. As such, I am trained in a range of different therapeutic approaches, and draw on a number of them in my counselling work. Clients' presenting issues commonly include depression, stress, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship problems, work-related issues, and struggles to adjust following big life events or losses. Clients often describe feeling stuck, emotionally overwhelmed, numb, or that they are lacking meaning and fulfilment in their lives. Other clients will present with longer term, more deep-rooted issues as a result of past trauma or difficult childhood experiences. My aim is to help each client explore what is troubling them and enable them to find a better way forward in life, working through the issues that are most important to them, without judgment or bias.
I currently work part-time in the NHS and part-time in my private practice, which is based in New Malden. I work with individual clients aged 16 and above, both on a short-term and a long-term basis. I work face-to-face, online and by phone. My standard fee is £55 but concessions are available in certain circumstances. I subscribe to the DBS Update Service and have up-to-date enhanced clearance.
I am a naturally empathic and compassionate person and I believe that building strong therapeutic relationships with my clients is key to the success of our work together. I bring maturity, warmth, humour and a collaborative approach to my work, together with insight gained not only from a rigorous, Masters level training, but also from many years of my own personal therapy and a long working history in the healthcare sector, including a background in nursing. I have worked with issues of religion, culture, ethnicity and sexuality, and with clients from all walks of life, through all stages of life. I am sensitive to issues of difference and strongly support equality, diversity and inclusion.
My first session
All new clients attend an initial assessment session, giving us the opportunity to meet one another, and enabling me to find out a little more about their reasons for seeking counselling at this point in time. The assessment session is charged at the standard session rate of £55.
