About me and my therapy practice

Supervision is a multifaceted relationship between a supervisor and supervisee or a group of supervisees that fosters good professional practice by encouraging and facilitating reflexivity, learning support and self care.

As a psychotherapist I offer a safe and developmentally appropriate relationship, within which my clients can express their needs and get them met. As a supervisor I offer an equivalent relationship to my supervisees. As the attuned therapeutic relationship is the vehicle for change, so the attuned supervisory relationship is the vehicle for the development of the group and each supervisee. My goal is for supervisees to feel supported, encouraged and respected.

I work with trainees as well as experienced counsellors and psychotherapists. I support trainees as they develop. I help them deepen their awareness and understanding of their clients and themselves as a therapist. With experienced therapists, I support their ongoing learning and development, offering both challenge and a new perspective on their work.

As a member of both the BACP and the UKCP, I adhere to the ethical code of practice of each organisation.

I have a Diploma in Clinical Supervision.

About me and my therapy practice

I offer psychotherapy and counselling in a warm and empathic environment, addressing symptoms including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, isolation and a sense of being lost.

My psychotherapeutic approach is integrative, which means I combine relational and developmental approaches. My philosophy is rooted in my belief that infants develop their sense of who they are and how to interact with others in relationship with the important people in their lives.

As they grow into adulthood this way of being governs, perhaps unconsciously, their behaviours and relationships. But, what may have worked in childhood may not work so well in adulthood.

Through the relationship we build together in therapy, I support my clients’ autonomy and ability to be who they are and engage more fully with those who are important in their lives today.

For some this process of change is straightforward, but for most of us it is challenging. There are no quick fixes or shortcuts. The result, however, can be wonderful and life enhancing. I offer the safety, containment, support and insight my clients need to explore their difficulties and engage in the process of change.
