About me and my therapy practice

Well done for making this first step! Starting counselling can feel daunting so I'm here to make this process as easy as possible for you.

I offer one-to-one support to adults and young people in the heart of Leeds city centre. Here, you will find a warm, welcoming and confidential space, ideally situated close to the bus station.

In addition, I have a specialist qualification in counselling online, and also offer sessions via video, IM, phone or e-mail. You may find this beneficial if physically attending sessions is a challenge for you, or if you simply prefer the comfort of accessing counselling from home.

Whilst I have particular expertise supporting in the areas of gender, sexuality, identity, young people and abuse, I am experienced in supporting around a wide variety of topics. Please see my website for further information.

Furthermore, I have been awarded accreditation by the BACP. This means that my work has been assessed and recognised as meeting a particular standard set by this key professional counselling body. It shows that I have been recognised as a competent and  ethical practitioner.

If you would like to make an initial (no-cost) appointment, please do get in touch.

About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I'm Debbie and I work with adults and young people in private practice in Leeds. I also work online and via the phone.

Am I the right supervisor for you?

*I have achieved accreditation with the BACP for my own practice.

*I have many years experience supporting in a broad range of issues through providing counselling at Leeds Mind, The Market Place Young People's Centre, Bradford Counselling Services, Yorkshire Mesmac and in Private Practice.

*I specialise in the area of Gender, Sexuality and Identity and have extensive experience supporting people who are LGBTQ+ or questioning their gender or sexuality.

*I offer an affirmative approach around relationship diversity (E.g. polyamory, open relationships).

*I strive to work with an ongoing consideration of intersectionality and am committed to the ongoing personal and professional development this entails.

* My background in Youth and Community Development Work means I have over 20 years experience of supporting children and young people across a wide variety of issues. This includes specialist support around gender and sexuality (LGBTQ+ projects and youth groups) and abuse and exploitation (CSE project work). I utilise creative tools to support young clients and hold a current DBS.

*I provide a warm welcoming and non-judgemental space for you to talk freely and in confidence about your work, providing emotional support alongside information and guidance where appropriate.

*If you work online-or have an interest in doing so, I can offer specific support here as I'm trained and qualified as a Cyber (Online) Therapist.

*I am committed towards ongoing development through extensive reading, attending training and engaging in regular supervision: both one-to-one and via supervision groups.
