I am currently working entirely on line because of the Coronavirus crisis until further notice.
About me and my therapy practice
Many people want to protect those they love so they try to cope with their problems on their own, unfortunately they may find that they are neglecting their own needs. My aim is to provide a safe, confidential space for people who have found that their usual strategies for coping have started to become less helpful or perhaps even harmful to them. I am an experienced practitioner, working with a number of different counselling models to find a way that is most helpful to the client.
For the foreseeable future all sessions are "remote" sessions and are via video or on the telephone. This is in order to comply with current Government guidelines and to keep everyone safe.
In an initial 30 minute session we will discuss what working remotely means and work together to set up the sessions. The session can be on Skype, Zoom, Vsee or WhatsApp. We will consider where and how you can best set up an environment at home that feels comfortable, is private, avoids interruptions and is confidential. I will have suggestions to help with this, including differentiating sessions so that it feels different from working from home. This initial 30 minute session is free and can be booked by calling me on the telephone number given in my details. At the end of the initial session there will be space for you to decide if remote sessions would work for you.
In more usual times I am based in Purley, a 10 minute walk from Purley Station, and on the 412 bus route. There is parking available directly outside the premises. Sessions are available throughout the week including Saturdays and Sundays.
Practice description
I am an integrative counsellor working with you as an individual in a way that meets your needs. I will be non-judgemental and empathic and endeavour to give space to talk freely about issues that are causing concern.
My focus is to establish a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust and understanding so that you can talk about what is concerning you without fear of judgement.
My first session
An initial session - whether "remote" or face-to-face is an opportunity for us to meet and to find out if we would like to continue to work together.
The format of the initial session will be that I will ask for some administrative details and we will talk in more detail about what is bringing you to counselling. You will also be able to ask any questions you may have. I will also be asking you some questions about you and your life in general which is to help me to get to know you and to understand how I can best help you.
At the end of this session there will be an opportunity for us to discuss what the experience has been like for you and we will discuss if we are going to continue to work together. You may want to decide there and then or take some time to consider this.
