Hi, my name is Sarah Casamassima I am an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor Located in Leeds. I have a therapy room located in Headingly near the Leeds becket campus which does have wheelchair access. I aim to provide a friendly and understanding environment for individuals, in one-to-one sessions which I offer face to face, online and by phone. I work with adults, couples, young people and children (from 10+ years). These can be scheduled at a convenient time for you (depending on availability) and adhering to the BACP code of ethics so that clients can feel safe enough in order to truly focus on what their needs are.

I am an integrative therapist who aims to facilitate sessions to fit your needs by using different styles of therapy that could be most helpful for you. Every client is different and I believe that by working intergratively enables the sessions to be as unique as you and your needs are.

People have counselling or psychotherapy for many reasons. Sometimes problems and situations require professional help to resolve them, some people find they're having difficulty coping, others want to use counselling for personal development. Whatever the reason, I am here to support you, and help you to find your own solutions. The counselling relationship can offer the space to talk through issues, explore situations and feelings without feeling judged.

I provide a safe, supportive & confidential environment, in which to explore problems which can enable you, the client, to gain a better understanding of your difficulties. I am a warm and empathetic therapist which helps me to build strong therapeutic relationship’s and this helps me to connect with clients problems. This can help clients to build confidence and improve your ability to cope in a more informed way.

I'm professionally qualified to a Master’s level and Acreddeted member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP).

I chose counselling as a career after receiving counselling myself following an unexpected health issue in my life. This has helped me to understand the process from a client’s point of view as well as wanting to be able to provide that support for others.

There are numerous advantages of accessing counselling are as wide-ranging as they are long-lasting. Offering a range of benefits, counselling can bring a sense of clarity to the mind and an improved sense of direction too. In the long term, counselling can help to build resilience, help to or-ganise your thoughts and feelings as well as work through past trauma re-duce anxiety and support through the grief and bereavement process.

I am passionate about working with clients to provide a safe empathic and non-judgemental space to talk through and process their emotions and past experiences that can bring about positive change.

I have been working in counselling for six years with specific experience with anxiety, depression, bereavement, and trauma. I work with adults and young people in an integrative way and have undertaken training in both cbt and solution focused therapy which combined with my previous training in person centered, systemic, psychodynamic and humanistic means that i can adapt to my clients need. I am able to provide both long and short term work depending on what is appropriate and needed by the client.

I have also have extensive experience with working with children and young people within school settings, face to face and via zoom (10+ years) as I am passionate about early intervention and the benefits of counselling from an early age.


My first session

Once an enquiry has been submitted I  aim to get in touch as soon as possible and offer a quick chat at a time that is convenient to us both to see what your initial needs are and if we could be a good fit for working together - this chat will be 15-20 mins and is free of charge.

The first session will be a chance to discuss and explore what you would like from the sessions and reasons for wanting to start counselling. This will also be the time for me to explore your expectations and needs to assess if counselling is appropriate and if we think we would be a good fit to work together therapeutically. I will also be able to go through and answer any questions that you may have about our therapeutic contracting and confidentiality.

All paperwork including a contract and assessment will be sent to you via email to complete and send back before our first session.

I have experience working with children in a bereavement setting and in schools (both primary and secondary). I have also worked with adults (including EAP) in both long term and short term therapy, face to face, by phone and zoom.
