About me and my therapy practice
Seeking out the services of a suitable therapist can be a daunting prospect at the best of times. Perhaps you're currently undergoing a particularly stressful or distressing period in your life, struggling to cope with mounting pressures at home or work, experiencing feelings of sadness or loss, relationship difficulties, or unforeseen changes in your personal circumstances. Maybe you are seeking help with a mental health issue such as anxiety or depression, aiming to find ways of better managing your condition and its impact on your everyday life. Whatever your reasons for seeking therapy, I'm here to offer you my support.
With over 20 years' experience in the field of counselling and psychotherapy, I am able to provide confidential one-to-one support for a wide range of emotional and psychological issues. There is no 'one size fits all' approach when it comes to therapy. Everyone is unique, which is why my practice aims to tailor itself to each individual's area(s) of need.
Practice description
Working as flexibly as possible in order to meet individual needs, I am able to offer one-to-one confidential counselling on a short or long-term basis, providing emotional and psychological support for a wide range of presenting issues.
In addition to my therapy practice, I regularly facilitate training and development on a variety of mental health-related topics, my specialist area of interest lying in the field of writing therapy.
If you would like to find out more about some of the possible ways in which I might be able to help you, please don't hesitate to get in touch for a free and informal chat by phone or email.
My first session
The first session of therapy presents an opportunity for the client and therapist to get to know one-another, giving both parties the chance to start exploring some of the issues that the client feels they would like to work on. This might sometimes involve identifying specific therapeutic goals or looking at strategies that could be helpful in each individual client's situation. For some people, the first session might be primarily focused on simply sharing the background to what has brought them to therapy, helping to give voice to any unresolved or difficult feelings in a safe and supportive environment.
