I am available to see clients face to face in my office in the garden (separate from my house) or alternatively I am very experienced at seeing clients over Zoom which is a remarkably effective platform for a therapeutic relationship to be established and for very significant change to come about for my clients. I see clients both in this country and abroad using the Zoom platform.
About me and my therapy practice
Therapy creates a unique space for self expression and self exploration that is often not possible within the other relationships in your life. I have the lived experience and deep understanding of the human psyche that enables me to work with you to help you to make sense of how you are in life, in your relationships and across your life and to find ways for you to live more authentically.
I am also very keen to educate you about why we as human beings hold onto seemingly self destructive or unfulfilling behaviours across our life as I know for me that having that understanding has really helped me to find the courage to bring about necessary changes in me and my life.
I offer sessions in person and also online. A session is 50 minutes whether face to face or online. if it is online you need to be in a space where you feel comfortable and where you know you will not be overheard or interrupted so you can be fully present and get the most from your session.
I have extensive knowledge and personal lived experience of 12 Step recovery programmes in particular Adult Children of Alcoholics and Dysfunctional Families (ACA) and Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). I also have regular yoga and meditation practices as well as being a keen recreational runner and cyclist as I find these practices support my own life balance and sense of wellbeing.
Practice description
If you feel fearful, overwhelmed or somehow stuck in your life and can't understand why then know that you are not alone. Most of us feel this way at times for it is part of being human and is often a sign that there is something we need to be looking at in ourselves or our life. It takes huge courage to decide to try and do something to try to understand and address those feelings and seeking therapy is a very brave and often life-changing decision. It may also prove to be one of the best decisions you have ever made.
Therapy can be a valuable and revealing process to enable you to gain a deeper understanding of how to address issues both inside and outside of you that may at the moment feel insurmountable.
Establishing a safe relationship with a therapist who “gets you” is essential to effective therapy. This is proven beyond doubt both by established research and also for me through my own therapeutic relationships throughout my life. I have the empathy, lived experience and insight to offer you a safe and secure therapeutic relationship with me to support you in seeking to gain a deeper insight into yourself and learning how to navigate whatever feelings or life challenges you are struggling with.
It is crucial to understand that this process of self discovery will always be at your own pace as you are the only person who can truly know you and this is your process so you get to take the time you need to take to uncover what is necessary for you at each stage.
If you feel you could benefit from giving yourself a safe space to breathe and to explore your true feelings and reflect on how you might like to feel differently I can offer you this space.
Discovering why we feel and behave the way we do is the most freeing life experience and allows you to uncover your own resources that you can the start to tap in to. My clients feel held, empowered and fundamentally changed by their therapeutic journey with me. I would love to be able to offer this experience to you.
My first session
I believe it is very important for you to tell me what it is you are hoping for from therapy so I can explain to you how I believe my approach can help you. To this end I offer an initial 30 minute telephone call free of charge so you can explain this to me and also very importantly you can get a sense of me and how I will work with you.
