I am very experienced at seeing clients over Zoom which is a remarkably effective platform for a therapeutic relationship to be established and for very significant change to come about for my clients.
I see clients both in this country and abroad using the Zoom platform. I am also available to see clients face to face in my office in the garden (separate from my house) near Henley-on-Thames or alternatively at a Therapy Centre in Henley-on-Thames town centre (at an adjusted rate).
I am very accommodating and will work with you to find a time that works for you.
I previously worked as a family lawyer which was the beginning of my journey of understanding how powerful a collaborative relationship can be in supporting others to find a way through difficult emotional circumstances and to come out the other side feeling stronger in themselves.
About me and my therapy practice
Whatever difficulty you may be experiencing in your life, I believe my role as a therapist is to help you to gain a deeper sense of yourself that will enable you to see both yourself and your life in a different way. I create a safe space where you can learn to do that by offering you a deep empathy and compassionate connection.
Above all else my clients feed back to me how connected they feel to me and how they feel completely understood.
And that is the gold dust of therapy - to understand your self - why you feel the way you do; why you may react to certain individuals or situations in a way that leaves you feeling baffled or uncomfortable in some way; why you find it hard to work out what you truly want from some part - or maybe even all - of your life.
Any one - or more - of these feelings can leave you feeling overwhelmed and unable to move forward and I want to reassure you that it is completely normal to feel this way. Even though those around you may not understand what is going on in you as on the surface of your life everything may seem to be as it should, there will always be a reason for how you are feeling. Therapy is a very effective way of finding out why that is.
I have an intimate and personal lived experience of both AA and ACOA but I fully acknowledge and respect that these fellowships are not right for everyone. I also have a deep understanding of CPTSD and the huge impact this can have on how we evolve as adults.
Therapy can be that safe space in life that is uniquely yours where you can start to explore any difficult feelings you are experiencing – free of anyone else’s opinions or judgments. It is hard to describe the power of speaking your thoughts and feelings out loud and the connections this enables you to make and the clarity this can bring.
I am there to fully support you on your journey, but my aim is always for you to uncover what is true for you, in the time that it takes.
Practice description
It is crucial to understand that this process of self discovery will always be at your own pace as you are the only person who can truly know you and this is your process so you get to take the time you need to take to uncover what is necessary for you at each stage.
Discovering why we behave the way we do can be a very freeing life experience and allows you to uncover your own resources that you can then start to tap in to. My clients feel held, empowered and fundamentally changed by their therapeutic journey with me. I would love to be able to offer this experience to you.
I am committed to offering you - as my client - emotional tools to help you to work out different ways of coping in your life. These tools can then become part of your way of being in the world and help you to fulfill your potential as a human being.
I have in-depth experience of working with unresolved issues from childhood which continue to have an impact on interactions, reactions and relationships in adult life. These can be obvious and in our awareness or equally they can be hidden from us for as children we absorb everything that goes on around us - in particular the emotional atmosphere created by those around us.
I am a passionate believer that these unresolved issues live inside us and are a huge driver of how we show up in our adult lives. Understanding that it is possible to start to look at these issues - in a safe emotional space - can be truly life-changing.
If you feel ready to find a safe space to start exploring whatever you are feeling you may need support with therapy may be your way forward. The power of therapy lies in an effective therapeutic relationship - I have the empathy, lived experience and insight to support you in facing whatever feelings you are struggling with so call me.
My first session
I believe it is very important for you to tell me what it is you are hoping for from therapy so I can explain to you how I believe my approach can help you. To this end I offer an initial 30 minute telephone call free of charge so you can explain this to me and also very importantly you can get a sense of me and how I will work with you.
