About me and my therapy practice
I am a UKCP Accredited/MBACP Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor working from a base in NW10. I normally work one to one with adults either in a therapy room setting or outdoors walking in a green space. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic I am only working with clients online through video or telephone.
You may be experiencing a relationship breakup/conflict, bereavement (inc. miscarriage/abortion), or stressful life changes. You might be feeling stuck, unhappy, lonely, angry or suffering with low self-esteem. The current pandemic and isolation may be highlighting existing difficulties or have brought new problems to light. We can explore your feelings, possible connections between past and present and how to find ways forward to help you to feel better.
I have worked with many clients who have experienced childhood family disruption (loss/divorce) which impacts their relationships and way of being now, be that feeling anxious, depressed, or lonely. My aim is to build a comfortable working relationship that enables you to feel safe and be open to talking freely with me.
I am experienced in working with loss of a parent or a physically/emotionally absent parent. I have completed a Masters Dissertation on absent fathers.
As a yoga/mindfulness teacher I can also offer mindfulness as part of a session or as a series of focussed sessions.
Once the social distancing imperative is loosened, I will be able to offer therapy in both indoor/outdoor settings. However, walking and talking is not suitable for all clients and presenting difficulties, so this would be discussed at an initial appointment if that Is what you are interested in.
My first sessionAn initial assessment/appointment allows me to see if I can help you and gives you the opportunity to see if you are comfortable with me.
The session is a conversation between us. There will be an exploration of what brings you to therapy now. I will ask some questions about your current life situation. This may include questions about: work/relationships/physical health/medication etc. There will be some exploration of your family background. The point of this exploration is for me to gain a initial 'map' to help me see what has brought you to therapy.
It is likely that whatever difficulties you are experiencing will be touched on and I hope you will feel able to share some of these with me.
I give clients a sheet of information - Therapy Guidance Notes - with more details about confidentiality/cancellations/holidays etc. We may decide at the end of this session to continue to meet or you may decide to take some time to consider your options.
