About me and my therapy practice

Hello there. My name is Emma and I am a Person Centred Counsellor offering face to face Counselling in Belper and online sessions using MS Teams. I understand that it can be overwhelming finding a therapist, so if you have any questions that you can't find the answer to on my page, then please don't hesitate to email me.

Taking care of our emotional health & wellbeing is important, but at times this can be difficult and we can be left feeling overwhelmed, weighed down and at a loss as to where to turn. As a Counsellor I offer a welcoming, non-judgemental space to help you explore, navigate and make sense of the challenges you are facing. By talking about difficult feelings and experiences we can also build helpful coping strategies that will improve and maintain your emotional health & wellbeing.

I have experience of supporting people with a wide range of issues including low mood, depression, stress, anxiety, anger, low self esteem and confidence, grief and loss and relationship difficulties. And although I work mainly using a Person Centred approach I may use other techniques when appropriate.

I also provide counselling for 'Grey Area Drinking': This is a relatively new term and describes people who feel they are drinking too much but do not meet the criteria for dependence. If you are worried about the amount you drink and are struggling to break the cycle, then I can provide a space to help you explore what is going on for you, understand your drinking and why you drink. I will also help you look at coping strategies to enable change.

I am fully qualified, insured registered member of the BACP with a clear enhanced DBS certificate.

'Emma has quite literally changed my life! Throughout our sessions she has been kind, caring and extremely perceptive, offering insight whilst letting me work through things at my own pace. I would recommend Emma to anyone seeking counselling because she is a terrific and experienced counsellor and such a lovely person!' Client

Practice description

I provide one to one short term and long term therapy to people 18 and above. Both face to face and online.

I offer an initial free chat via Zoom or telephone and if you feel I am the right therapist for you, each session is 60 minutes there after.

I charge £45 per session unless booked and paid in blocks of six and then sessions are £40.

Currently only offering Tuesday and Wednesday evening appointments.

My first session

I aim to offer a safe, confidential space where you feel you can talk openly. I will need to hear a little about why you have sought counselling and what you are hoping to get from it.
