About me and my therapy practice
I am a BACP-registered therapist and have given nearly 1,500 hours of therapy to a huge range of clients. But no two clients are ever the same, and I see my role as helping you to get as close as you comfortably can to what your experience has been, and to what you want to do about it.
Whatever your current challenges, however deep-rooted or short-term, I will sit with you to explore them, feel them, understand them and work out how we can help you to overcome them.
As an integrative therapist, I try to help you integrate your thoughts, feelings. body and behaviour into a blend which better serves your needs. How I go about this will depend on your particular experiences but it usually involves making connections between your current difficulties and your background, and between both and the relationship we're forming together.
By exploring these patterns it usually becomes easier to see the solutions and, perhaps, to begin to experiment with doing things differently.
And I'll be with you every step of the way.
My first session
Whether you've had therapy before or not, a first session with a new therapist will often induce a mixture of nervousness and excitement for both of us.
I find that what generally works best is to briefly outline some of the practicalities of working with me, then to give you as much space as you like to give me an overview of what's brought you here and a bit about your background, and then with a few minutes at the end to discuss how the session has been for you and - if you're ready to - to decide whether you wish to carry on.
Finding the right person is very important; it's completely fine by me if you decide you wish to 'audition' several to find the right person for you.
