About me and my therapy practice
I hold the view that each of our difficulties or crises is an opportunity for bringing about a positive change and growth. I am committed to providing guidance and therapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment, with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and help you to live in a more fulfilling way.
I am a BACP Registered Counsellor and I see clients in my private practice in Bethnal Green where I offer therapy for individuals. I provide both short-term focused or long-term in depth therapy and I work face to face.
I see clients from all walks of life and have experience in helping clients with the following difficulties: anxiety, attachment and relationship issues, bereavement, burnout and career, depression, issues concerning culture and identity, lack of confidence, low self-esteem, loss of meaning, panic attack, personal development, realising one’s potential, stress and trauma.
People seek counselling for wide-ranging reasons. They may be going through a difficult situation such as the loss of a significant other, or undergoing a transition in their life, or facing difficulties dealing with childhood experiences alone. Perhaps they seek help in dealing with compulsive thoughts or difficulties relating to others, or to cope with depression or anxiety. Alternatively, many seek counselling as a part of their efforts to discover or create meaning in their lives or attain the ability to realise their own potential and expand their life’s possibilities. Whatever the reason may be, the opportunity to share your views and be heard can help a person attain clarity and gain new perspectives about different situations and life experiences.
Practice description
I base my approach on the psychosynthesis model, which is a therapeutic approach that focuses on personal growth and development and an individual’s psychological past. Just as childhood affects our present life, it also influences our vast human potential for healing and change. This method of therapy can be understood as a humanistic and transpersonal approach as it integrates many aspects of the human experience that comprises spiritual, emotional, cognitive, and physical aspects.
In my approach, I consider the whole person—the body, mind, feelings and spirit—and take into consideration all forms of human needs—from the basic psychological needs of security, love, relationships, respect and recognition to the need for meaning, higher values and self-actualisation.
In my work, along with dialogue, I use many simple and effective psychosynthesis techniques such as guided imagery, visualisation, inner dialogue, drawing and journal keeping.
My background is in a charity sector and NHS; I have experience working with children and adults with complex health conditions, helping them identify what is most important for them to achieve is a good life and ensure that the support they receive is designed and coordinated around their desired outcomes. In my previous roles, I have worked with people of varied ages and ethnicities suffering with mental health problems, supporting them to live more independently and be part of their community.
I have a Post-Graduate Diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling from the Psychosynthesis Trust validated by Middlesex University. I also have a UKCP Level 3 Certificate in Integrative Counselling Studies. Prior to my training in counselling, I received BSc in Psychology and Social Anthropology from Roehampton University.
