I offer face-to-face sessions at Essential Space in Cheltenham and I work online via Zoom. I also offer a blended option to offer flexibility.
I see clients in private practice during the following hours:
Monday 11am - 6:30pm
Tuesdays 10:30am - 6:30pm
Wednesdays 10:30am - 6:30pm
Thursdays 10am - 2:30pm
(I can also offer Thursday afternoons however every 3rd Thursday there will be no session.)
About me and my therapy practice
I am a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor, Children's & Young Person's Counsellor and Career Change Coach. I work with adults, teens (ages 14+) and young people experiencing anxiety, sadness, stress, burnout, low self-esteem, and 'stuckness'. I am here to offer support, encouragement and guidance towards a deeper understanding of yourself.
I also have experience working with school and work-related issues, bereavement, divorce, family and relationship problems, self-harm, suicidal ideation, panic attacks and depression, with particular experience and interest in working with anxiety-related issues.
Perhaps there’s a specific challenge that you are currently facing or maybe you are unsure of what it is you’re looking for but you have lost sight of yourself somehow. Whatever it is that has brought you here, I will listen empathically and provide a confidential space to explore what is important to you, at your pace. I will support you, without judgement, towards empowering yourself to make sense of the challenges you face.
I work with each individual as a whole, unique person, offering different perspectives of the human experience informed by a multi-view approach. I adapt how I work with each person depending on their needs in the here-and-now. I draw upon different theories to ensure I work in response to each individual's needs. I work in a Person-Centred way to help me see the world from your viewpoint. I am informed by Transactional Analysis (T.A.) to explore patterns of relating within yourself and with others. I also use tools from Gestalt to bring awareness to the body's experience in the present moment, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT - pronounced 'act') provides a framework to develop mindfulness skills combined with the practice of self-acceptance.
I am also trained as a Children’s and Young Person’s counsellor, bringing in accessible ways of working with adolescents (aged 14+). I work with teenagers and adults in private practice. I have also worked in charity, school and agency settings.
I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) working within their Ethical Framework.
In my former life, I worked in corporate fashion for 11 years. Having experienced my own sense of anxiety and unease within my previous career, I retrained first as a wellbeing coach and yoga teacher in 2015/2016, leading to working as a Health and Wellbeing Mentor on a full-time wellness retreat. I then gained a licence as a Firework Career Change Coach (having been a client of the programme myself) and set up my private coaching practice in 2018 – a programme that I still run and integrate elements into my counselling if and when appropriate.
My first session
It’s important to find a counsellor who you feel comfortable with, and I am happy to talk with you to help you discover whether we are the right fit to work together and can provide the support you need. I can offer a free introductory call either via phone or zoom - whichever you prefer - usually lasting between 15-30 minutes. We can discuss your needs from counselling and I can tell you more about how I work and how this may support you. From there we can arrange our first session together. Sessions last an hour.
