About me and my therapy practice

I am a BPC accredited psychodynamic psychotherapist and a BACP accredited psychodynamic Counsellor.  I have been working in private practice in North London since 2011.  I am also a BPC (British Psychoanalytical Council) accredited DIT (Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy) practitioner.  DIT is a short term model, (16 sessions) recommended by NHS Nice guidelines for anxiety/depression.   I have worked in various settings from a busy GP practice to an addictions unit.  I regularly attend critical incidents as a critical incident consultant.  I also worked in a crisis unit whilst I was training to be a therapist.  This was an invaluable experience as I was at the cutting edge of mental health issues.  I used to work in the media industry and decided to retrain to become  a counsellor in 2003.  My approach is psychodynamic this involves exploring patterns in behaviour as well as finding ways to connect with subconscious processes.  I  adopt a solution focused approach when working in the short term.  I have a great deal fo experience offering brief therapy and am an EAP affiliate with various organisations.   I am a recognised health insurance practitioner with Bupa, AXA, Aviva, WPA, Vitality, Cigna and Pru Health

Practice description

I work in North London at Bickerton House.  Parking is available outside.  The building is well maintained with toilet facilities.

My first session

Sessions last 50 minutes.  The initial meeting is an opportunity for us both to see if we feel we can work together. It can also help us to determine whether the work needs to be short-term (6 to 12 weeks) or long-term (open-ended). This first meeting sometimes involves a great deal of information gathering.

After the initial meeting there is no obligation to continue. If we agree to continue, we would then discuss fees, and choose a regular time slot.
