About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced, skilled and professional counsellor and will do my utmost to help you feel as safe and comfortable as possible. I provide a calm, quiet and nurturing environment. I am kind, caring and compassionate and will always try my best to understand what things are like for you. Together we will explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours in the hope of reaching  new insights and understanding. If I have any knowledge or insights that I feel would be helpful to you, I will share them with the sole aim of increasing your understanding.

I can work short or long term and we can discuss this at your first session. Whatever your reasons for coming into counselling, I would like to be there to support you.

My usual place of work is Beltinge, Herne Bay so I am very accessible from Thanet and the Canterbury and coastal areas.

About me and my therapy practice

I trained as a humanistic counsellor and see this very much as my foundation. I believe that given the right opportunities and conditions, people will move towards autonomy and self- direction. As a humanistic counsellor, I am familiar with person-centred, Gestalt and TA approaches. I have successfully supervised humanistic, Gestalt and integrative counsellors. I feel that the relationship between counsellor and supervisor is fundamentally important, in the same way as it is between counsellor and client.

Hawkins and Shohet describe it well: ‘The task of the supervisor is to help the supervisee feel received, valued, understood on the assumption that only then will he feel safe enough and open enough to review and challenge himself, as well as to value himself and his own abilities. Without this atmosphere, too, he is unlikely to be open to critical feedback or to pay good attention to managerial instructions’ .

Practice description

I have supervised trainee and qualified counsellors for several years and have completed a Level 6 diploma in therapeutic supervision. I feel that I create a good working relationship so that we can work together honestly, supportively and collaboratively for the benefit of your clients.

My practice is based in Beltinge, Herne Bay. I would be happy to talk to you on the phone prior to meeting.
