About me and my therapy practice
I have found it quite difficult to write an on-line profile so I am sure it is even more difficult to choose a counsellor based on one. It must be even more difficult in the current COVID-19 climate when we will need to work on line via video or over the telephone. You may have anxiety about technology and not being able to see your counsellor in person.
In addition, how do you know what the counsellor will be like - will they be able to help you? Will they be able to understand what it is like for you? Do they seem like a real person?
I will tell you a little bit about myself to help you make up your mind. I am an experienced counsellor who has worked privately for a number of years. I have also worked for charitable organisations and did my counselling placement in the NHS.
My usual place of work is Beltinge, Herne Bay so I am accessible from Thanet and the Canterbury and coastal areas but I am currently working on Zoom. I work in private practice in the evenings and on Fridays and will offer appointments as flexibly as I can.
So, this is what I can offer - I am a warm, caring, thoughtful and compassionate person in everyday life and feel these qualities are integral to my work as a counsellor. I appreciate concerns about technology and more remote working and promise that I will do my very best to make this as good an experience as I can for you. I continue to provide a quiet, contained space to listen to what things are like for you. We will work together to develop your own understanding and meaning of what is happening so we can think about how you may wish to manage or change things. The way all our lives have changed and continue to change because of COVID-19 have created new challenges and highlighted uncertainty.
I am experienced in working with depression, anxiety and when everyday life is getting on top of you. I work with relationship concerns and all kinds of loss, such as bereavement, job loss, redundancy and 'sense of self'. I can also help with overcoming negative thoughts and feelings and improving confidence and self-esteem.
My first session
I can work short or long term and we can discuss this at your first session. Whatever your reasons for coming into counselling, I would like to be there to support you. Please just telephone, text or email me and you can expect a prompt response.
