Emma Steadman

I'm an experienced play therapist, sandplay practitioner and supervisor. 

My practice includes creative play therapy for children, adolescents and young adults, as well as sandplay therapy for adults.

 I offer individual and group sessions for children and adolescents. Adult sandplay is one to one.

Sand,art,movement, and play therapy are offered. 

My main approach is person centred,client-led using a range of creative media. It is informed by Rogerian, Jungian,post Jungian and Transpersonal principles.

I have over 15 years of supervised experience working in schools, CAMHS and charities. I specialise in working with children and adolescents who have experienced one off and developmental trauma. 

An initial meeting enables people to find out about what I offer, how we could work together and to ask any questions they have. If a person would like to proceed, then we agree some dates and times and book for a series of sessions. We review together at a mutually agreed point.

I offer CPD training in sandplay and creative supervision.

I provide training to small and large groups on how to support children and young people's mental health in schools. Training is interactive and includes creative materials. 

I have taught on all levels of CPCAB counselling courses, and trained play therapists, counsellors, psychotheraists, psychologists, and teachers at graduate and post-graduate level. 

I offer creative supervision for individuals and groups. My approach integrates working with symbols, art,writing,role play and sandplay to enable supervisees to focus on their client- work, reflect and enhance practice.

 I aim  to facilitate  a safe, open, creative learning space where client work can be explored and confidence, knowledge, skills and application of the BACP ethical framework can develop.

 An integrated creative approach aims to facilitate opportunity for supervisees to reflect on their work and find their own answers to their questions as well as being supported with theoretical knowledge and discussion of ethical dilemmas. 

I supervise a range of professionals including play therapists, counsellors,coaches,teachers and head teachers, social workers and family support workers.

Learning from successfully completed PhD research is applied to my supervision practice.
