About me and my therapy practice

I aim to provide a compassionate, safe and non-judgemental space for you to attend to yourself. You may be seeking therapy to deal with your relationships, your life in general, anxiety, depression, crisis of meaning and life purpose – to name but a few. My hope is that this process will offer a precious and regular opportunity for you to take a fresh look at yourself and your life.

Fundamental to our work will be a relationship of trust and safety.

I follow the ethical guidelines of BACP   (British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists) around confidentiality and professional conduct. I also have full professional indemnity insurance.

My approach is based on the belief that as social beings our challenges need to be looked at in the context of our relationships. We also look at your individual and internal processes to improve self-awareness. This may well involve reflecting on your past and your past relationship patterns. However, my focus is more on the here and now.

This means paying attention to our mind, body and emotions, and how they can each find their rightful place in our unique life.

The work will be tailored to your uniqueness and aspirations. We can work on thought patterns and behaviours that don’t serve you anymore. Or we may want to trace back to earlier blocks and relationships. While my training is in psychosynthesis (which emphasises a holistic and person centered approach) I draw upon other schools and modalities as necessary such as Gestalt, existential psychodynamic, mindfulness, humanistic, and others.

I work with a range of requirements from short term solution-focused work to long term counseling, working with deep-rooted issues.

Practice description

I am a registered and insured member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.

You may be considering therapy for general self-development and finding a more satisfying and more meaningful life. Or it may be that you have some specific challenges and issues you wish to work through.

I work in a holistic and systemic way- this means that like a spider’s web everything is inter-related. We are not separate islands but interconnected and interdependent parts of systems. Self-awareness cannot be achieved merely through introspection and self-analysis. Appreciating our role in our systems and how we interact is also key. In fact, the concept of Self only begins to take shape when we discover there exist others

While theories have their place in therapeutic process, a critical part of our work will be the quality of the relationship between us. You will need a safe, confidential and trusting space to attend to yourself. I aim to provide the necessary safe harbour.
