About me and my therapy practice
As a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT). I work with many different kinds of presenting issues and I understand how difficult it can be making that first step when looking for support. But I hope I will be able to put you at ease. As we are living in particularly challenging times which is causing an increase in our sense of fear, isolation and confusion. I work ethically to provide you with a confidential, safe and non-judgemental space to explore those challenges. This can enable greater understanding, healing of difficult emotions, acceptance of self, more enjoyment of the present and positivity about the future.
I also offer Walk and Talk Therapy, in which we observe social distancing. During this period of lockdown people have found comfort in nature. It soothes us, helps us feel more connected, grounded and hopeful. When we talk surrounded by nature it can provide an extra support, a different perspective that can be incredibly helpful to the counselling process.
Practice description
My private practise is based in Westerton a suburb of Bearsden. I'm in immediate walking distance of the train station and there is parking outside the building.
My office is a warm and welcoming safe space offering you confidentiality to talk about your presenting issues.
CBT is evidenced as being an effective therapy for treating anxiety, depression, phobias and many other presenting issues. Therapy usually lasts between 6 to 12 sessions and is regularly reviewed. The number of sessions can be extended or reduced as necessary.
My first session
Initially I offer a free 20 minute phone call to yourself. This will give you the opportunity to ask questions and in return I will answer them and tell you a little about CBT therapy. I will also give you the space to tell me briefly your presenting concerns so I can gain a sense of the work that will be collaboratively achieved during sessions.
