About me and my therapy practice

Childrens counselling

I am an experienced children's person-centred counsellor and a member of the BACP with over 650 clinical hours working with children to date. Whilst most of my experience has been in based working in schools, I am now offering private sessions in a fully equipped children's therapy room. I am passionate about children's mental health, and helping them process their emotions that are so often suppressed, misunderstood or dismissed.

After traumatic life events, for example; bereavement, difficult relationships, illnesses, caring, bullying, relocating, attending school, to name a few -  children's feelings can be forgotten about. They carry them not wanting to add to anyone's stress often unaware that these emotions can lead to anxiety, anger or difficult behaviour.

I offer art, play, creativity, sand tray, and talking therapies in a dedicated therapy room.

I love working with children who are neuro-divergent and enjoy watching them grow in an environment where they are completely accepted and free to be themselves.

Adult counselling

I also offer Person-Centred adult counselling. I am passionate about emotional health and self awareness and creating a space for people to find their own truth and carve their own path. I believe you are the expert of your life and I would love to stand along side you as you explore whatever life has thrown at you and what it means for you right now.

I come with no judgement, but a willingness to value you and your experience and support you as you make steps to become free from whatever is holding you back.

Working through relationships, anxiety, dealing with grief, becoming more self aware or talking through overwhelm are some of the reasons people seek counselling. Whatever the reason is for you, it would be a privilege to be the person you chose to walk with you and support you during this time.

I offer a warm and accepting environment for you to explore, find balance and a new direction.

Practice description

Childrens counselling

I am a warm and empathic person, and love connecting with children and working with them therapeutically. I work in a child- centered way which can be very empowering for children.

Your child may choose to communicate with words, or through story-telling, metaphor, play, or creativity, as some children find words difficult to access when needing to process uncomfortable emotions. Sand tray work also is a powerful tool to explore children's lived experiences.

This way of working allows the child an opportunity to explore and process their stuck or difficult feelings in a way they choose with someone alongside them.

I work in a gentle and non-judgmental way, coming alongside them to help unlock their difficult feelings/experiences, allowing the child to work intuitively and use the therapy space in a way that feels most comfortable for them. This helps them to find the language to untangle their thoughts and feelings and to make sense of their lived experiences.

Adult counselling

I understand first hand how daunting and scary it can be to reach out for help from a talking therapy, but I can also speak of the freedom and empowerment that can grow when working on issues holding us back from our best life.

I hope to create a safe space for you in the comfort of my dedicated therapy room to explore whatever issues you feel you need to talk about.

I believe that empathy is a great healer.

My first session

Childrens counselling

The first session will be with the main carers/parents to discuss the referral and why the child is coming to therapy now. We will complete forms and discuss concerns and therapeutic agreement

This can be done over the phone but a face-to-face meeting in the therapy room is recommended. This will be approximately £50 depending on the length of this meeting.

The room is a dedicated therapeutic space, and there is room outside for parking up and waiting. There is also easy access to fields for a walk whilst your child is with me if required.

The first session with the child will be a getting to know you session and chatting gently about their expectations and goals, and looking at how we behave in the therapy room. Parents can stay if appropriate.

Adult counselling

I offer an initial free 15 minute zoom or phone session for us to see if we will work well together.

Please get in touch if you have any questions, I'd love to try and answer them.
