About me and my therapy practice

Are you finding life difficult and sometimes overwhelming?   Maybe you are experiencing feelings of anxiety, low mood, bereavement, abandonment, or isolation?  Perhaps you are struggling with problematic relationships, traumatic events, adverse childhood experiences or issues connected with spirituality or religion?

Life can often be difficult, particularly during periods of change and transition.  Sometimes we start to withdraw from activities and people we once enjoyed.  Finding the inner strength to work through uncomfortable feelings, can be challenging.

Working in a calm, safe, non-judgemental therapeutic space I could help you heal from painful past experiences, work through current challenges, and envisage a more hopeful future.

From personal experience, I know how reaching out can feel uncomfortable and takes courage, yet doing so could be the start of a journey to living a more fulfilled life.

If you feel I may be able to help you, contact me to arrange an initial free 20-minute telephone consultation to help you decide whether I am the right therapist for you.

Practice description

My therapeutic approach is psychodynamic.   Through the development of a relationship built on trust, I could help you make sense of difficult and confusing emotions.  Together we could explore how past experiences may be influencing how you engage with current difficulties.

Applying insight to help make more informed choices marks the start of a healing journey towards a more fulfilled life.  Working on an open-ended basis allows change to evolve and embed, without the pressure of a limited timescale.

In addition to my private practise, I work for a mental health charity supporting patients being treated within the NHS.  Whilst in training I worked within an agency specialising in providing long-term psychodynamic counselling.

I am a highly qualified counsellor, experienced working therapeutically with adults from diverse backgrounds and range of emotional challenges.

Committed to continued professional development, I work within the BACP ethical guidelines, accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

In addition to working within a calm and comfortable therapy room, I offer both online and outdoors therapy.

Some people feel more at ease working outdoors whilst talking about their difficulties. The natural flow and rhythm of walking side-by-side helps some feel more relaxed, hopeful, connected and less emotionally stuck.

My first session

During our first session we will explore your situation and what you hope to gain from our time together.  In our second session we will reflect upon the initial exploration and agree how we will work together.  These initial sessions form the bedrock of our therapeutic work, most clients find them very helpful.

All sessions last for 50 minutes at a cost of £55.
