About me and my therapy practice

I am a trained and qualified therapist located in Thingwall, Wirral. I have an MA in Clinical Counselling (distinction) from the University of Chester and a Level 5 Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapeutic Skills and Theory. I have a Certificate in Cyber Therapy and a Certificate in Race, Culture and Anti-discrimination Practice.

My therapeutic approach is informed by my training in person-centred counselling and cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT).

My one-to one counselling service takes place in a purpose-built log cabin located in a quiet garden. It offers privacy and an intimate space in which to talk and be heard.

The decision to access counselling usually emerges at a time in our lives when we are struggling to manage our emotions or thoughts. It can be hard to acknowledge that we are not coping as many of us feel that we should be able to cope with whatever life throws our way. We might believe that seeking professional help during the difficult times is somehow a sign of weakness. The idea of talking to a stranger about our most private feelings and thoughts can seem more frightening than struggling alone.

Even though you may have the support of a loving family and friends, being heard by a person who is independent of the situation can really allow you to see your challenges from a different perspective. Talking to someone who is professionally trained, approachable, who is impartial, non-judgemental, caring and who respects confidentiality can help you to explore what is going on and can help you move to a less conflicted way of being. Recognising you do not need to struggle alone is a strength. Sharing your burdens and accepting support can facilitate a better, calmer future for you and your loved ones.

As I currently work part-time at the University of Liverpool Counselling service, I will not be able to work with you if you are a current student at the University of Liverpool.

The first session is an initial consultation. There is no charge for this 30 minute session and no obligation to continue on to counselling. This initial meeting gives us a chance to meet and discuss how we might work together.
