About me and my therapy practice
Psychodynamic Therapy is an analytic therapy that works in a way in which each individual's unconscious thoughts and perceptions are developed and rooted in childhood. These unconscious patterns and behaviours can affect current, present day thoughts. The aim is to support you in recognising, experiencing and understanding your true deep rooted feelings in order to help resolve them. It is not an easy quick fix therapy and for those who are wanting a more CBT approach then this may not be for you. It is intended for people who want a truer insight into their internal life and want to change negative behaviour patterns.
Practice description
We meet for an initial therapy consultation. At this session you will tell me why you are here and we will begin to explore whether we can do some meaningful work together. After this session we will decide if it would be helpful for you to have some psychodynamic therapy. If we decide to start working together, an Agreement is drawn up where we set out each others' expectations. We then meet every week at the same time and place for as long as you want to. It is an open-ended therapy with regular reviews to see how you feel the therapy is going.
