Hello and welcome, I believe that by talking to someone who will listen and respond to you as an individual, without discrimination or judgement, you can begin to feel less alone with your problems and work towards tackling the issues that are making you unhappy. I can share with you that I am dedicated to your wellbeing and in identifying the path to get you to your best you and creating the best life!
Sometimes as counsellors, we talk our own language, filled with counselling jargon, technical terms and abbreviations. I try to avoid this as I feel it creates confusion and misunderstanding. I prefer to be real, open, honest, genuine and understandable when I am with my clients.
I aim to offer to the time and a safe space to be able to concentrate on you. Every person who comes to me is completely unique, as it their story and perspective. The most significant part of the therapeutic process is developing the relationship between the client and counsellor and working together you can identify ways to improve your well-being. I can provide you with individually tailored tools and technique's to work through you difficulties as we go along. My biggest belief is that people have an innate tenancy to be able to self actualize and reach their full potential themselves but with support and guidance, this will go on to facilitate personal growth and positive change.
About me and my therapy practice
I am Laura a fully qualified Humanistic Counsellor and Psychotherapist, Person-Centred trained. I work with children aged (7+), young people, adults and families.
I am uniquely skilled with an extensive degree of experience treating PTSD, Mood Disorders, Personality Disorders, Panic Disorders, Depression, Self-Harm, Suicidal Ideation and Bipolar issues.
I am a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and abide by their Ethical Framework. Professional public indemnity insurance is held, I have an advanced DBS, have regular supervision, attend regular (CPD) courses and activities to ensure I keep all my skills and knowledge up to date. I follow all the current GDPR recommendations making sure you feel safe and secure knowing that your person information is being handled and stored correctly.
I currently work in shipston on stour the office space is easy to access with good transport links, free parking and in a private facility, which ensures client confidentiality and discretion. I can provide home visits following a strict risk assessment and hold sessions outdoors for those who are apprehensive about being in the traditional therapy room. I also offer walk and talk therapy sessions in a beautiful scenic setting alongside the River Avon.
Practice description
An Initial telephone consultation (15 minutes in length) are not charged.
I do offer session packages at a reduced per-session rate. These packaged session deals must be pre-paid in full prior to scheduling them for use.
An invoice will be provided, indicating the number of sessions purchased and the cost per session. Prior to the use of the last session in any pre-paid package deal, notification will be made and an option to purchase another package of sessions will be offered. It always remains an option for each client to return to single session payments once their packaged sessions are used.
My first session
Our time together will be completed face-to-face in the office, outdoors during walk and talk therapy, via various different online platforms or over telephone. The frequency of sessions will be driven by your counselling needs. Many people want to know, “how long will I need to be in counselling?” This question is generally difficult to answer, some people will get what they need from counselling with just a few sessions whilst others require support over a longer period of time. At the very beginning of therapy, we will draw up a therapeutic contract. If you only wish to have a few sessions, we will talk about what we can realistically achieve during that time. That might mean focussing on particular issues and not on others. I tell most people that if you want to see sustainable results, it is best to plan on committing to at least six sessions together. Again, people are different, so their counselling journeys will be different. Our work is very intentional and designed to get you the results you desire.
Typically, our work is done on a weekly basis; however, some clients require more frequency while others desire the sessions to be less often. Our time in session will last approximately 60 minutes. Some weeks you may have proposed growth opportunities to consider doing during our time apart from each other. Please note that everything discussed is optional but will be intentionally designed for the sole purpose of your personal growth in achieving your goals.
