About me and my therapy practice
I am an Integrative Humanistic Counsellor and Psychotherapist, with 20 years experience. This means I use the best of a range of approaches that suit each person and their individual and unique needs. Working ethically is central to me and my professionalism and as such, I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, and I adhere to their Code of Ethics.
In order to work well, it's important to have a solid and trusting working relationship with everyone I work alongside. This means I work in a confidential, supportive and non-judgmental way. In order for people to feel comfortable working with a counsellor or psychotherapist, I know how important it is to know they will not be judged, reprimanded or discriminated against.
In my nearly 20 years of working with individuals, couples and families, I have learnt and applied a variety of approaches in my practice because one size does not fit all. These include Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, Psychodrama, CBT, Brainspotting and EMDR. Every person who comes to counselling or psychotherapy brings their own unique questions, needs and preferences. My aim is that our sessions together will suit that uniqueness, so that people can find their own answers to the situations they find themselves in.
I work alongside people who are dealing with all kinds of issues, including, but not limited to, anxiety, relationship issues, depression, family issues, career and life choices, affairs and betrayals, separation and divorce, abuse, anger management, bereavement, low self-esteem, low self-confidence, sex and sexuality, LGBT-related issues and stress. All of this is done in the strictest of confidence.
My first session
At your first session with me, we will go over some of the questions you're asking yourself, some of the things you would like to be better in your life and what your hopes are for yourself, your relationships and your life in general. Over this first session, you will also have a chance to work out if I am the best person to work through things with you.
