About me and my therapy practice

Life can be overwhelming, and perhaps things are feeling too much right now. Maybe you are experiencing a loss of confidence, or belief in yourself; or perhaps you are feeling stuck, lost, or unsure.

I can offer you a warm, safe, non-judgemental space to explore and express what is causing you difficulty, supporting you to reconnect with yourself, with others, and with your life. I do this by helping you raise awareness of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in the present moment, allowing you to look for new possibilities and to be able to respond to life in a more choiceful way.

Qualifications & training

I am a fully qualified, registered counsellor, having trained at The Gestalt Centre, London. I am a registered member of BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy), and I adhere to their ethical guidelines. My registered member number is: 389602.

Qualifications:

Professional Diploma in Counselling

Certificate in Humanistic Counselling

Practice description

I am currently offering online counselling sessions via a video platform. Online sessions have many benefits including convenience, accessibility, and comfort. You may find that online counselling fits well with your lifestyle - the lack of travel time for online sessions, for example, can be beneficial to those with busy schedules; or you may live in, or often travel to, a different area (or even country), and online sessions offer a way to break down those geographical barriers to your preferred counsellor. In my experience, online counselling allows for deep, moving, and vibrant connection, just as with face-to-face counselling. Have you ever laughed or cried at a film or TV show? If so, you have experienced the powerful emotion and connection that can be conveyed and received through a screen.

How will I work with you?

In keeping with my training, my main approach to counselling is relational Gestalt therapy. The approach focuses on what is happening between you and I in the present moment to help us identify and understand habitual patterns of relating with others, and to support you in raising your awareness of your thoughts, feelings, sensations, and behaviours. I will often pay attention to what might be happening between you and I, and I will gently invite you to do the same. The Gestalt approach can also be creative, and if it seems helpful and if you are happy to, I may invite us to experiment with new ways for resolving your difficulties.

My first session

I believe that one of the most profound and healing aspects of counselling is the relationship between you and your counsellor. It is an important one to get right, which means that finding the right counsellor for you can feel daunting. That's why I offer a free, no obligation 20-minute online/telephone call for us to meet one another and see whether it feels right. During this initial call, we can discuss what brings you to counselling, and you can ask any questions you might have about me and how I work.

If we then chose to work together, we will arrange an initial 50-minute session which acts as an extension of our initial call. I'll ask you some questions about yourself and your life, and we can explore what you would like to get out of our sessions. If we both feel happy to progress after this session, we will arrange an ongoing time to meet weekly.

Fees:

Introductory online/telephone call (20 minutes): FREE

Initial individual counselling session (50 minutes): £50

Weekly individual counselling session (50 minutes): £50
