About me and my therapy practice

Although Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) played a central theme in my diploma I describe myself as an Integrative Counsellor.

An Integrative Counsellor means that a combination of theories is used, including Person-Centred Therapy and Psychodynamic Counselling to best match the approach to the goal of the work and the person.

My approach assumes that the quality of the meeting is more important than any technique or theory that is used, and that different issues have meanings particular to the individual. Open communication is the key.

Practice description

I am a Mental Health Specialist for HHPDA www.hhpda.co.uk/about-us I have lived experience of Depression, Anxiety and Addiction and found healing through the therapeutic journey and along the way I have a passion to support others on their healing journey. I have also studied psychology, philosophy and nursing and have specialised in areas such as trauma, addiction, self-harm and sexual violence

I have been in practice for over thirteen years and worked in a variety of support and managerial roles for various charities and delivered counselling in the NHS.

I offer online, face to face and talk and walks in nature (ecotherapy).

My first session

At our initial meeting, which does not commit either party, we will discuss how counselling can help you. I will explain the working agreement   I will offer you the opportunity to ask any questions and express any concerns about us working together.

If you would like to chat with me about counselling or arrange an appointment, please contact me via the contact page. If counselling turns out not to be appropriate for you I maybe able to suggest other forms of help.
