About me and my therapy practice
I am a second-generation, Black British man, of Jamaican descent. I feel fortunate to come from a very diverse family background, which also includes White, Indian and Chinese, and this sense of richness has, I feel, enabled me to gain a deeper understanding of the environments in which I have lived. For example, I have fond memories of visiting my grandparent's house in Birmingham, where one of their tenants - a charming Indian woman - gave me a memorable lesson in making chappatis!
I have travelled extensively, including South America, Africa and Asia, which has also helped me to gain a deeper understanding of the world in which we live.
I embrace diversity and difference, and I enjoy working with people from different walks of life, ethnicity, religion, culture and sexuality.
Working from a comfortable, purpose-built therapy room, in a garden setting in Frampton Cotterell, South Gloucestershire, and also from therapy rooms in Central Bristol. I offer a counselling environment that is safe, supportive and non-judgmental. I offer a free, 30-minute initial consultation for us to meet, discuss your concerns, and establish our relationship.
My therapeutic approach is Person-Centred, combined with elements of CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). I will help you to reflect and explore the issues that concern you, working towards finding your own solutions to making your life happier, and overcoming challenges.
I am experienced in working with people from the LGBTQ community; difference does not have to mean isolation, misunderstanding or anxiety.
