About me and my therapy practice
I am a registered member of the BACP and I hold a BSc in Humanistic Counselling Therapy. This training, together with many years of a personal mindful practise, has led me to understand that when we are truly heard we are able to navigate from a painful or anxious place towards our authentic, more fulfilled and resilient selves. I have also completed training within the Human Givens Institute, which is focused mainly on short term work, discovering more practical solutions to human problems. For example; meditation, guided imagery and breathing techniques for anxiety. This combination of training gives me a flexible, holistic client-focused way of working. This approach may also include offering ideas if it is felt it may improve our therapy together; such as suggestions of potentially helpful reading materials, Podcasts and TED talks.
I hold full therapeutic practice insurance and I am committed to adhering to the BACP Ethical Code Of Conduct.
I offer a confidential, non-judgemental space for individual therapy. This work can be both short and long term. I have experience working with both young people and adults. I work with a broad range of clients with a wide range of issues, though much of my work thus far has been with people struggling with anxiety, family / relationship issues, self confidence and depression. I trained at The Metanoia Institute in London and have experience working with clients from many different backgrounds, ethnicities, genders and age groups. Following a career in the creative industries and having personally experienced both helpful and not so helpful therapy, I chose to re-train in my late 40’s. I had a desire to offer a healing space for others to be believed and heard, enabling a process for people to discover a more creative and fulfilling life. At this time I am working remotely only, this is being reviewed on a regular basis.
My first session
I know engaging in therapy may be daunting experience for some, which is why I offer an initial assessment session which will give us the opportunity to meet and for you to be able to ask any questions you may have. Given that we know that the effectiveness of therapy can be dependant on the quality of the relationship between client and therapist, this is an opportunity for us to establish if I am the right therapist for you. This initial session will last for 60 minutes. If we decide to work together then the sessions are 50 minutes and offered weekly.
If after the initial session we decided not to work together, I would be happy to help direct you to an alternative therapist or service.
