About me and my therapy practice

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I have a background in learning and development.

As a person-centred counsellor and supervisor, I work with whatever you bring to our sessions and create a safe, empathic and accepting environment in which you can explore your feelings.

I am also an NLP Practitioner and believe my background in people development and coaching further enhances my counselling practice.

Alongside my Private Practice, I run a learning and development company, so understand the pressures and challenges of the working environment, including leading and managing people.

I have also volunteered as a counsellor at No.22 in Maidenhead and have been an Advocate for the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead; representing under 18s at Child Protection Conferences.

I am passionate about the outdoors and how nature can have a positive effect on our mental wellbeing.

As a member of the BACP I adhere to their Ethical Framework for Counselling and Psychotherapy and have professional indemnity insurance and I also have regular clinical supervision.

Practice description

My practice is at my home in the heart of the Chilterns, surrounded by countryside, so I can offer outdoor therapy when appropriate.

My counselling room is quiet and private, with parking and toilet facilities and is located on the ground floor.

My first session

It is important to find the right counsellor for you where you are able to build a trusting and safe relationship, so that you can feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and feelings in the sessions.

Therefore, I offer a complementary initial half hour session to discuss how we might work together, what you may want to work on and answer any questions you may have. We can then decide whether I am the right counsellor for you and there is no obligation to return.

Should you decide you want to work with me, then subsequent sessions are typically 50 minutes in duration on a weekly basis. It is impossible to know how many sessions you may want/need as everyone is different and we can review this on an ongoing basis. You are not obliged to sign up for a set number of sessions; some clients decide after a couple of sessions they are not ready yet and others may continue therapy for months and sometimes years, it's entirely up to you.

We will also agree a therapeutic contract for working together.

About me and my therapy practice

Nature Therapy / Ecotherapy Trainer

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I have a background in learning and development.

I am passionate about the outdoors and how nature can have a positive effect on our mental wellbeing. My practice is in the heart of the Chilterns surrounded by countryside, so I offer outdoor therapy with my own clients.

Nature therapy has many names*. As a relatively new therapeutic practice there is still much to be learned, however an increasing field of research is emerging with studies proving the benefits the outdoors can have to our mental wellbeing.

I love the outdoors and have always found being in nature a calming, grounding and therapeutic experience.

I have completed a BACP / Keele University accredited course on Nature as Co-therapist to ensure the safe and ethical practice of this type of counselling.

I now train this myself to therapists looking to use nature in their own client work. I also run workshops that help people to develop their on relationship with nature and using it to support their own mental health.

My workshops are highly experiential and we go outside whatever the weather!

If you're interested in learning more about nature therapy and the workshops I run, then please get in touch.

*Ecotherapy (Clinebell, 1996; Buzzell & Chalquist, 2009), biophilia (Wilson, 1984), ecopsychotherapy and ecopsychology (Roszak et al. 1995),adventure therapy (Richards, Carpenter & Harper, 2011), wild or wilderness therapy (Davis-Berman & Berman, 1994; Nick Totton, 2011), outdoor therapy (Revell, Duncan & Cooper, 2014; Jordan, 2015), green care (Sempik et al. 2010) and walk and talk therapy (Revell & McLeod, 2015). For me, the term nature therapy (Berger & McLeod, 2006) feels most relevant and refers to the therapeutic benefits that this type of work has to offer.

Practice description

I will travel to you to deliver workshop.

Due to the nature of the workshop, it's ideal to have access to natural space around the venue.
