About me and my therapy practice

The counselling and psychotherapy world is full of jargon which can be daunting when you have made an important step in considering seeking support. I will endeavour to answer your queries and put your mind at ease. Change is possible whatever issues you are facing in your life.

I am person-centred trained but consider myself to be more integrative, meaning I use a range of interventions with clients, depending on your needs. I hope to create a safe, empathic and non-judgemental environment in which you can explore and better understand your thoughts and feelings. I also believe appropriate humour is important and yes, it's OK to swear!

I am also an NLP Practitioner and believe my background in people development and coaching further enhances my counselling practice.

I therefore also offer Personal Consultancy which is a framework for integrating coaching with counselling. This approach gives us the flexibility to address external issues as well as explore internal thoughts and feelings. I can share more about this with you when we speak.

Couples Therapy: Every relationship has its challenges and often our frustrations are symptomatic of deeper underlying problems where one or both partners are not getting their needs met. I will work with you to identify the unmet needs and develop strategies for getting those needs met in the future.

I’ve also been the Managing Director of a learning and development company, so understand the pressures and challenges of the working environment, including leading and managing people.

I am passionate about the outdoors and how nature can have a positive effect on our mental wellbeing so offer walk and talk Nature Therapy also.

As a member of the BACP I adhere to their Ethical Framework for Counselling and Psychotherapy and have professional indemnity insurance and I also have regular clinical supervision.

Practice description

I’m currently offering online sessions via Zoom, WhatsApp or FaceTime and telephone sessions.

Walk and Talk sessions are also available, depending on suitability and location.

My first session

It is important to find the right counsellor for you where you are able to build a trusting and safe relationship, so that you can feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and feelings.

Therefore, I offer a complementary initial half hour session to discuss how we might work together, what you may want to work on and answer any questions you may have. We can then decide whether I am the right counsellor for you and there is no obligation to return.

Should you decide you want to work with me, then subsequent sessions are typically 50 minutes in duration typically on a weekly basis, but we can discuss frequency when we speak. It is impossible to know how many sessions you may want/need as everyone is different and we can review this on an ongoing basis.

You are not obliged to sign up for a set number of sessions; some clients decide after a couple of sessions they are not ready yet and others may continue therapy for months and sometimes years, it's entirely up to you.

We will also agree a therapeutic contract for working together.

What I can help with

Abuse, ADD / ADHD, Addictions, AIDS/HIV, Anger management, Anxiety, Asperger syndrome, Bereavement, Business coaching, Cancer, Career coaching, Child related issues, Chronic fatigue syndrome / ME, Coaching supervision, Cultural issues, Depression, Development coaching, Disability, Eating disorders, Executive coaching, Health related issues, Identity issues, Infertility, Leadership coaching, Life coaching, Loss, Men's issues, Obsessions, OCD, Personal development, Phobias, Post-traumatic stress, Pregnancy related issues, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Sex-related issues, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Spirituality, Stress, Trauma, Women's issues, Work related issues

Availability

I currently have availability for supervisees.

About me and my therapy practice

I work with new and experienced supervisees, including trainees and schools, working with clients with diverse presenting issues.

My work with schools includes supervision for their pastoral and safeguarding teams, and supervision of school and trainee counsellors.

I offer both individual and group supervision.

My supervision style has been called ‘nurturing’; holding safe space for both you and your clients. I also bring humour to our work!

I tend to use a combination of both counselling and coaching in our work together so that you can grow and develop in your practice. I also believe I am always learning from my supervisees too!

I find many supervisees tend to focus on what they could have done differently so I like to give space for recognising the positive client work you’re doing also!

I believe my purpose is to help individuals realise their potential.

I am person-centred trained, but consider myself to be more integrative, meaning I use a range of interventions, and I supervise other modalities.

I also have experience of representing under 18s at Child Protection Conferences.

I am also an NLP Practitioner and believe my background in people development and coaching further enhances my supervision practice.

About me and my therapy practice

Nature Therapy / Ecotherapy Trainer

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I have a background in learning and development.

I am person-centred trained but consider myself to be more integrative, meaning I use a range of interventions with clients and supervisees.

I am passionate about the outdoors and how nature can have a positive effect on our mental wellbeing. My practice is in the heart of the Chilterns surrounded by countryside, so I offer outdoor therapy in my own practice.

Nature therapy has many names. As a relatively new therapeutic practice there is still much to be learned, however an increasing field of research is emerging with studies proving the benefits the outdoors can have to our mental wellbeing.

I love the outdoors and have always found being in nature a calming, grounding and therapeutic experience.

I have completed a BACP / Keele University accredited course on Nature as Co-therapist to ensure the safe and ethical practice of this type of counselling.

I now train this myself to therapists looking to use nature in their own client work. I also run workshops that help people to develop their on relationship with nature and using it to support their own mental health.

My workshops are highly experiential and we go outside whatever the weather!

If you're interested in learning more about nature therapy and the workshops I run, then please get in touch.

Practice description

I will travel to you to deliver workshop.

Due to the nature of the workshop, it's ideal to have access to natural space around the venue.
