About me and my therapy practice

FACE TO FACE COUNSELLING

It may be there is one specific reason you are seeking counselling, or it may be there are several issues you want to work through. Perhaps you are troubled by recent life events, or your mind is occupied by events that happened in your earlier life. You may feel discontent and unhappy and you do not know why. Maybe you feel disconnected from others and relationships may be difficult or troubling. Or perhaps you feel quite lonely, anxious, or depressed. Your experience right now may be because of a bereavement, a relationship breakdown, stress at work, or family difficulties.

Counselling can give you the space and time to explore your current experience in a safe, judgement free, and confidential environment.

As a person-centred counsellor, I respect you as the authority on what it is that is causing you unhappiness or distress. I will listen to what it is you need to bring to the therapeutic relationship with understanding and without judgement. I recognise you as the individual you are and you will always be at the centre of the therapeutic relationship.

As your counsellor, I can give you the time and space to explore your feelings, understand what is going on, and discover the person you wish to be. I will listen to you and hear you without judgement or criticism.

I offer a 30-minute telephone consultation or video consultation prior to commencing counselling.  The number of counselling sessions you have will depend very much on you as an individual. We will discuss this at the consultation or the first counselling session and review this on a regular basis. A single session lasts 50 minutes and if you prefer and it works for you, I can offer sessions up to 90 minutes. This is individual to you as the client.

Practice description

I am a non-directive psychotherapist. I see you as having the capacity to be able to make the changes you wish to make.  You will find a warm welcome, and a space that is genuine and respectful - whether this is face to face counselling or video counselling.

I aim to offer flexible appointments if this suits you as a client (I recognise that not everyone works regular hours).

In addition to face-to- face counselling, I also offer E-counselling

My first session

Either in the 30 minute consultation prior to commencing counselling, or your very first session, I will seek to understand your main concerns and what it is you wish to gain from counselling.  We will discuss how many sessions you may wish to have, and agree the frequency of those sessions. We will discuss and agree the therapeutic contract which includes matters of privacy & confidentiality as well as fees, frequency of sessions and information of the ethical guidelines I work within. You can check my qualifications and ask any questions with regard to the counselling process and my counselling experience.  If I do not have experience in the issues you wish to address, I will discuss this with you so you can choose to seek support elsewhere. If I have knowledge of other appropriate providers, I will share this information with you.

About me and my therapy practice

COUNSELLING VIA ZOOM

I am a person-centred counsellor and psychotherapist offering counselling sessions via zoom or the telephone.

Sessions are usually held weekly, but the frequency will depend on your needs as a client, and last for 50 minutes in duration.

My approach is collaborative and supportive and I will adapt the therapy to suit each individual.  I offer a confidential and non judgemental therapeutic relationship where you will be valued and respected.

Practice description

Person-centred Counselling is a talking therapy where you are free to express your feelings and emotions.

I recognise that you have the capacity within to make the changes you wish to make so that you can be the best version of yourself. You are the orchestrator of change in your life and experience. My role is to support you as you find the path you are seeking, and I will do this with respect, understanding, and honesty.

My first session

I offer a 30 minute consultation via telephone or zoom before we begin the counselling process.  This allows you to get to know me and ask any questions you may have. This session will enable me to understand your aims from counselling before we begin that work.  This first session also gives us time to complete the therapeutic contract and agree in principle the number and frequency of sessions you may initially seek.

We will talk about how counselling via zoom or telephone will work and what our process will be if technology fails us in a session.
