About me and my therapy practice

It's very tricky coming up with anything original in these blurbs, so I will stick to basics instead! I am an experienced Person-centred Counsellor & Accredited Member of the BACP. During this Covid-19 situation, I'm offering online and telephone counselling at a reduced rate of £35, in case your income has been impacted.

I’m warm, friendly & down to earth. I’m neither mystical nor aloof & am committed to building a relationship with you that allows you to be open, honest & feel safe enough to explore yourself, your world & your problems.

I'm a fully qualified, experienced, Person-centred Counsellor and am an Accredited Member of the BACP. Over the years, I have worked as a counsellor in fourteen different settings, including the NHS, third sector organisations, Employee Assistance Programmes & in colleges and schools.

I have worked with people on very wide range of issues, including: general anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks, family & relationship problems, depression, racism, LGBTQ issues, problems at work or university, bereavement & abuse.

Taking the first step can be difficult. Just get in touch via the method of contact you feel most comfortable with (or find the least worse!). If you're not sure what to say, just keep it as brief as you like- I won't be judging you for it as I sometimes find contacting people for the first time difficult too.

The first appointment is free. We will work at your pace on whatever you want to work on and together we will try to get you to where you need to be.

Practice description

I used to offer face to face appointments in Manchester, but due to the current situation have switched to online and telephone counselling.

I usually use Zoom, but if you'd prefer a different video counselling format just let me know and I'll check if it's secure enough! If you don't like any kind of video counselling and would prefer telephone counselling, that's okay too!

My first session

The first session is free and is a chance for both of us to ask any questions we might have. It's also a chance for you to get a better idea of what counselling is and the way I work (and if I'm the right counsellor for you!).

I'll explain a few things (like privacy, data protection etc) and gather some information from you so we can work safely and to check if online or telephone counselling is appropriate for you. If it is then the rest of the session is yours to talk about whatever you're struggling with. If you find it difficult to get going, I can ask you some questions, if you'd like.

What I can help with

Abuse, Anger management, Anxiety, Bereavement, Cancer, Child related issues, Chronic fatigue syndrome / ME, Cultural issues, Depression, Health related issues, Infertility, Loss, Men's issues, OCD, Pregnancy related issues, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Stress, Trauma, Work related issues
