About me and my therapy practice
My aim is to help young people and adults through challenging times when life can leave you feeling unhappy and unsure about yourself. As you go through life, you may find you lose yourself as you experience obstacles or setbacks. You might forget self-care as you focus on those around you instead of your own needs. As a result of this, your feelings can become supressed and you need help to find your authentic self and bring harmony back into your life.
For young people, facing new and unexpected changes can be overwhelming and raise anxiety. It is not always easy to talk about worries, difficult feelings or problems because they do not always have the resources to understand or process them. This can then result in difficult or challenging behaviours coming to the surface such as anger, stress, low self-esteem and confidence, anxiety, depression, attachment difficulties, or self-harm.
The foundation to providing therapeutic healing is the relationship between the counsellor and client. It can be the most important relationship a person has when life is overwhelming. Using a holistic approach, I will listen sensitively to you whilst working alongside you in a safe, empathic, confidential, and non-judgemental environment. You will have the space to explore your thoughts and feelings as we work collaboratively together to empower you on your journey to discover the answers that already lie within you, so that you can make constructive choices.
My approach is relational-integrative which allows flexibility to draw on a range of therapeutic models and works well, because everyone experiences life differently making them unique. I have an awareness and respect for difference and diversity and the issues that may inform the counselling relationship. Additionally, I am culturally sensitive to the South Asian community and can relate to its traditions, expectations and challenges.
