About me and my therapy practice
I'm trained in Transactional Analysis, but I'm also working on a PhD in creative writing, focusing on creative uses of memoir and life writing. Since switching to working exclusively on-line during lockdown, I have developed my interest in using creative writing as a tool for self-discovery and wellbeing. Understanding our life stories as narratives which can become confused or fractured can help to guide therapeutic conversations. I encourage my clients to use writing between sessions and I am now running regular small online writing groups. I also run online writing workshops which focus on specific issues such as grief, loss, acceptance and change.
My first session
The online writing groups that I run meet weekly for six weeks. Timings are flexible around demand. During a typical two hour Zoom group session we will normally begin with a time-limited period of free writing, sometimes around a theme or a prompt. We move on to structured writing exercises and group discussion. I also run three-hour 'deep dive' online writing workshops which include a follow-up one-to-one therapy session.

About me and my therapy practice
'Talking therapies' can help us to work through grief, anger, guilt and frustration. I offer unconditional support and confidentiality, allowing you to untangle your thoughts. It can be such a relief to share the feelings you usually have to hide.
I am a qualified, experienced and insured psychotherapist working in private practice - I have a discreet office on Deansgate in the heart of Manchester city centre but am currently unable to use it so I'm providing supportive counselling via Zoom video calls online and by telephone.
We are all going through a strange period of uncertainty and anxiety. It might be difficult to share your feelings with the people closest to you. I'm now offering 30 minute appointments for £25 as well as the standard 50 minute sessions. Talking about feelings can be hard work, and emotional, but often there is a lot of laughter too, and a sense of release when you confront things that have been troubling you.
