About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm an accredited Integrative Counsellor with 10 years experience helping people with anxiety and worry, sleep problems, stress, panic and fear, relationship problems, depression, low self-esteem, anger, frustration and rage, sadness, grief and loss.
Working with me, you will find I am a warm, friendly well qualified counsellor, offering short term and open-ended counselling. If you are feeling challenged right now, that there may be some aspects of your life you'd like to be different and you're wondering if I or counselling can help you:
I'm able to help if you are experiencing disturbed sleep, high anxiety, or worrying feeling anxious often, or perhaps no motivation at all to get on with things; you know what you want to do but somehow cannot face it.
Perhaps you might feel you are having frustrating and painful interactions in your relationships that are important to you. Or be struggling even to make yourself get out of bed in the morning and experiencing very low energy. Feeling a desire to hit out or smash things up and having trouble regulating your anger or anxiety.
You may be feeling things cannot carry on as they are, and something needs to change. I want you to know that you are not alone, counselling is proven to help. I can help.
My approach is integrative, as we are all unique. Talking with someone who cares but is not involved in our daily lives and relationships helps clarify confusing thoughts, feelings and reactions. People usually feel calmer, less stressed and relieved to have finally decided to get support and to start making changes to feel better.
Whatever you are feeling right now, my goal is to support you and help you work through, so that you come out the other side feeling permanent change for the better has been achieved.
Practice description
I work from my comfortable home office - based in Seaford just off town on the seafront.
I have a black Labrador called Loki. Those who like dogs really enjoy his greeting and having him next to them in his bed. If you do not like dogs; he does not come into the room with us.
There are some steps to go up to get into the counselling room.
The ethos of my practice is seeking to help people make permanent change for the better that does not reverse itself.
This means that we will establish what your goal is for therapy, for example, feel calmer, stop over-thinking, stop having angry outbursts/arguments, feeling more like yourself again.
Being an Integrative counsellor means I am able to tailor my approach to you. Usually this means that if you want help processing how you are feeling and making sense of things, we do that. If it helps you to know how anxiety, fear, panic, depression, relationships issues work, we will talk about that. If working creatively helps we will do that. If looking at difficult repeating patterns of behaviour helps, we will do that. Brainstorming ideas, gaining new perspectives...all this has really helped my clients in the past. I adapt to suit you.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions, or to book an appointment by filling out the form on this page - just to the left and your message will get to me.
My first session
I offer a 50 minute consultation for £60. After the initial nerves about stepping into counselling, clients often feel relieved to have safe supportive space with me to come and talk through their thoughts and feelings. It's a different kind of conversation than one you might have with family or friends.
I promise you will leave the consultation feeling heard, seen and understood, as well as having gained some clarity on what you are facing, with a good understanding of what your goal for counselling will be and how we will work together on it. Most people leave feeling better for having taken the first step and feeling more hopeful about their future.
