About me and my therapy practice

I have been a counsellor since 2010. I find it a privilege to be able to bear witness to my clients' life stories and what they want to deal with in their therapy sessions.

The counselling work is not about me telling you what you need to do in your life to feel better, the work is done collaboratively. We become a team. I explore with you what your hopes are for counselling and I offer ways in how we can go about meeting those hopes. I specialise in bereavement and loss, as well as sex addiction and porn addiction. More recently I have trained in EMDR to help client process traumatic memories.

Bereavement and loss - Loss does not have to be just mourning a loved one who has died. Loss can be redundancy, loss of health, a broken friendship, marriage breakdown, failure in exams, death of a pet etc

Sex and Porn Addiction - I have personal experience of being addicted to pornography and the effects of pornography in a marriage.

Partners with sex or porn addiction - It can feel like your world has ended when you find out your partner is addicted to looking at porn, or seeing a sex worker. There is a level of trust that has been broken and you may feel you will never recover from the shock. Counselling can help you start to rebuild your life after this shock.

Over the years I have seen clients who have looked at the following life issues:

Anxiety

Coping with life pressures

Depression

Trauma

Sexual abuse

Divorce

Feeling stuck

Low self esteem

Porn addiction

Stress

Sexual compulsive behaviour

Sexual addiction

Bereavement and loss

Attachment issues

Christian counselling

If you want to ask a few more questions before booking an initial appointment, then please contact me and I can organise a free 10 minute chat to discuss what you want from counselling. We can then decide if I am the right counsellor for you.

Practice description

EMDR counselling

An in-depth history take will be taken to gain knowledge if EMDR is suitable for you at this time.  Once the history take/assessment has been completed, we will work together to prepare you for working with the trauma memory that you wish to have healing from.  Once ready we then process the memory.  The processing will reduce the level of disturbance the memory has.  Our aim is to get to a place where the memory is no longer disturbing and just feels like 'normal' memories.

Sex and porn addiction counselling

After an assessment to ascertain the level of severity of the addiction, we work together to understand your triggers and put together a relapse prevention plan.  We also work on finding out the root cause for the unwanted sexual behaviour.

General counselling

In the assessment, we work together to create a plan of what you want to achieve out of the counselling.
